Le Club AccorHotels recently launched its MyResorts programme in Asia-Pacific to let their guests maximise their holidays experience at over 100 breathtaking destinations in the region. The MyResorts programme, which is exclusive to Le Club AccorHotels members, offers a comprehensive suite of benefits such as MyGlass, MyKids, MyConnect, and MyHost and much more, with a range of inclusions and rewards – some free, some for a nominal fee – that will ensure that their guests get the best value for their money and to experience their destination in style. I got to experience some of the elements of the MyResorts programme first-hand in sunny southern Thailand at Pullman Phuket, Pullman Khao Lak and Sofitel Krabi.

Three jewels in southern Thailand

My journey took me from the popular island destination of Phuket to Pullman Khao Lak in the neighbouring province of Phang Nga to Phuket’s north, before ending at the luxurious Sofitel Krabi.  Although all three resorts are in the southern region of Thailand, each resort exudes its own characteristic charms and offers guests a unique atmosphere at each location.

I love how quickly I am whisked away from the Phuket airport to arrive at the cliff top resort, and given a warm Thai welcome with an aromatic jasmine garland upon arrival. Nothing beats being able to relax at the destination quickly, all within 20 minutes, upon clearing customs without having to deal with another tiresome land journey.

With its stunning vista overlooking the azure Andaman seas and its sophisticated modern tiered layout and several reflecting pools, I can see why Pullman Phuket has won many accolades within two years of its inception.  I managed to capture some spectacular sunsets with my two nights’ stay in Pullman Phuket.

Notwithstanding, Pullman Khao Lak has similarly great views of sunsets with its 13-km Pakweeb beach on its resort compound.  Pullman Khao Lak covers more than 16,000 square metres with over 320 rooms and 5 swimming pools, Pullman Khao Lak offers a perfect location to be sequestered away for long period.  On its sprawling compounds with lush gardens, I was given a tour of the diverse activities available to keep guests occupied.

The sports centre boasts a proper Muay Thai boxing ring, archery range, tennis court, petanque, beach volleyball, mountain bikes, a mini-golf course, and even a small golf driving range.  The tour had to be conducted on golf buggies simply because it’d be too much ground to cover by walking!  In addition to the activities within the compound, Pullman Khao Lak also offers a range of water activities such as stand-up paddle board, catamaran sailing, canoe, and windsurfing.

MyGlass

After a day’s sun and fun, there’s no better way to wind down in preparation for dinner with a pool side drink. One of the signature elements of the MyResort programme is MyGlass.  For a relatively reasonable THB$850++, Le Club member may enjoy unlimited soft drinks, juice and water all day. In addition, at Pullman Phuket and Pullman Khao Lak, I got to enjoy a free-flow of selected cocktails, beers, and house wine at sundown.  The timing for the alcoholic beverages may vary from resort to resort; for example, it is from 7 pm to 9 pm every night at the chic poolside Pullman Phuket “C” bar, whereas at Pullman Khao Lak, the MyGlass starts flowing at 5 pm to 7 pm at the Vista, Terrance and Plunge bars.

MyKids

For all the fun that grown-up guests can have, Pullman Phuket and Pullman Khao Lak have got family with young children covered too.  In addition to the swimming pools, both these resorts offer supervised indoor and outdoor fun at their Kids Club.  I’m not a kid, but I’m certainly quite impressed with the facilities available to keep younger children occupied and have fun as much as their parents.

In addition, the MyKids element of the MyResort programme promises welcome surprises and daily treats. For THB$700++ per child per day, children get an all-inclusive kids menu, buffets and drinks, kids club access, movies and other activities.  For example, at Pullman Khao Lak, kids will be offered favourites such as chicken nuggets, mini beef burger, pasta carbonara or pork sausages with mash potatoes.

I’m not a kid, but I was thrilled with the surprises that Pullman Phuket set up in my room when I was there; I was surprised with a cupcake decorating kit in my room when I returned one afternoon, and was torn between cooling off at the poolside, or having a go with the icing piping bag; I had great fun making my wolf cupcake, and can imagine how ecstatic kids would be with the surprises that MyKids programme has in store for them.  I am certain that holidaying with the family will never be the same again with Pullman resorts.

Luxury living with Sofitel Leisure Butler and MyHost

I also got to experience a finely crafted experience with the Leisure Butler service available at the sumptuous Sofitel Krabi.  After the grand welcome reception that I received upon arrival, we were introduced to Poppy, our Leisure Butler.  We were ushered to a Thai cooking class that is ever popular with travellers to Thailand.  The emotions during the cooking class range from the initial excitement to deep concerns as we failed to replicate the chef’s instructions to finally, satisfaction and pride in completing all the dishes, albeit slightly modified.  Among the dishes, I am most pleased with my Thai red ruby dessert, a perennial favourite Thai dessert that I can finally add to my growing culinary repertoire.

Just as Pullman Phuket is modern and sophisticated, Sofitel exudes an old world charm with its timeless elegance with its lofty ceilings and chandeliers. My room, with its waxed parquet flooring and dark wood furnishing, still has a tv cabinet that harks back to the earliest days of television sets. One thing that I also noticed is how well stocked the mini-bar is, with bigger bottles of cognac, whiskey, gin and rum.

The next day, Poppy took us on a guided tour to the picturesque Hong Island. I can see perhaps how Hong Island got its name, which means “room”, with a secluded lake-like chamber in the middle surrounded by high cliffs and only accessible via a narrow water opening.  It’s among many other popular islands to visit while at Krabi.  It’s a shame that the snorkelling pit-stops we made were marred by murky currents which obscured the vibrant coral reefs from our views.

After a delicious buffet dinner, I was treated to more fire shows, similar to ones I received at Pullman Phuket and Pullman Khao Lak, and grander – with three performers coordinating their fiery performances.

The leisure butler service may not be available at all the resorts, but with MyHost, Gold and Platinum Le Club members can also enjoy similar experience with an extra personal touch while holidaying with AccorHotels resorts.
