Tomacado Brings Its Award-Winning Floral Dining Concept to Singapore with First Overseas Flagship at Paragon

Singapore’s dining scene has welcomed no shortage of aesthetically driven cafés and restaurants over the years, but few blur the lines between restaurant, flower boutique and lifestyle destination quite like Tomacado. The Beijing-born dining brand has officially opened its first overseas flagship at Paragon, marking both its Singapore debut and the start of its international expansion as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Stepping into Tomacado feels less like entering a restaurant and more like wandering into a secret urban garden. Inspired by its philosophy of “Bloom as Flowers, Cook for Love”, the space is filled with cascading floral installations, soft pastel hues and lush greenery that offer a welcome escape from the bustle of Orchard Road. It’s an environment designed to slow diners down, encouraging them to linger over both the food and the surroundings.

The name Tomacado itself is a clever combination of “tomato” and “avocado”, chosen not only for its memorable sound but also for the nutritional synergy between the two ingredients. Rich in lycopene and healthy unsaturated fats respectively, they symbolise the brand’s commitment to natural, healthy and sustainable living—a philosophy that extends from its menu to its interiors and retail offerings.

Founded in Beijing in 2015, Tomacado has grown to 13 outlets across mainland China and has already earned international recognition following its Hong Kong debut. Among its accolades are the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurant by Prix Versailles 2024 and Floral Restaurant of the Year 2024 by LUXlife. Singapore now becomes the brand’s first stop outside Greater China, bringing its distinctive blend of floral artistry and fusion cuisine to Southeast Asia.

Modern Fusion Cuisine with Local Influences

While the interiors may initially steal the spotlight, the menu is equally ambitious. Tomacado describes its cuisine as modern Western dining infused with Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian influences, creating dishes that are both visually striking and approachable.

To begin, the Signature Cured Salmon ($28) is lightly marinated in dill-infused olive oil before being finished with ground wasabi and lemon juice, while the Tomacado Signature Honey Roasted Pumpkin Salad ($24) combines roasted pumpkin with onsen egg, avocado, chickpeas and crunchy nuts for a hearty yet refreshing starter.

Among the signature mains is the Tomacado Signature Roasted Chicken with Black Truffle, available as a half ($39) or whole chicken ($69). Brined and air-dried for 24 hours before roasting, it is served alongside truffle and the chef’s special chilli flakes. Meat lovers can also opt for the MBS 6/7 Wagyu Steak ($89), lightly pan-seared French-style to preserve its natural juices and accompanied by three different dipping sauces.

Singapore-exclusive creations have also been developed specifically for local diners. The Pandan Crusted MBS 3/4 Tenderloin ($53) wraps tender beef in fragrant pandan leaves before serving it with romesco sauce, while the Fiery Seafood Curry on Rice ($38) combines prawns, squid, octopus, scallops and salmon in a rich coconut curry finished with Grana Padano cheese and Mediterranean butter for an East-meets-West interpretation of curry rice. Those who enjoy a little spice can also look forward to the Seared Tiger Prawn with Crispy Pita ($29), where laksa-inspired coconut broth meets crispy pita bread for an inventive take on local flavours.

Desserts continue the floral narrative. The Grape “Oolong” Jelly Panna Cotta ($14) layers fragrant tea jelly with fresh grapes and apple, while The Signature Almond Chocolate Cake ($14) combines crisp almond, chocolate, coconut jelly, sponge cake and mousse into a multi-layered dessert. Even the drinks are designed to impress, with the Blue Butterfly Pea Sparkling Soda ($15) changing from blue to lavender as fresh lime is squeezed into the glass.

True to Tomacado’s “one store, one palette” philosophy, the Singapore outlet draws inspiration from two symbolic blooms: China’s peony and Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid. Their forms and colours appear throughout the interiors, from floral sculptures and decorative motifs to the gentle pastel palette that flows across the dining room. Plush velvet seating, curved architectural details and thoughtfully arranged greenery create a romantic setting reminiscent of dining within a blooming garden.

The restaurant also doubles as a showcase for Chinese craftsmanship. Eight original artworks created by masters of China’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage have been commissioned exclusively for the Singapore outlet, representing traditional crafts including Suzhou embroidery, Nanjing Yunjin brocade, Beijing cloisonné enamel, coloured glaze glass and Yunnan wood carving. Complementing these are six botanical orchid artworks inspired by Singapore’s national flower, creating a cultural dialogue between the two countries.

More Than Just Dining

Tomacado extends beyond the restaurant itself with an in-house flower boutique and lifestyle retail corner. Diners can browse fresh bouquets, scented candles, tea collections, tableware and teaware after their meal, while resident florists are available to create bespoke floral arrangements. The Singapore store also features an exhibition and retail space dedicated to intangible cultural heritage crafts, including intricately embroidered butterfly brooches by Suzhou embroidery master Zhou Haiyun.

To celebrate its opening, Tomacado is rolling out a series of launch promotions, including discounts on à la carte dining, complimentary flowers for diners, savings on retail products and flowers, afternoon tea vouchers, social media giveaways and an exclusive collaboration with Saicho Sparkling Tea. Promotions are available for a limited time and while stocks last.

With its unique blend of floral aesthetics, lifestyle retail and thoughtfully crafted fusion cuisine, Tomacado offers something refreshingly different from the usual restaurant experience. Whether you’re planning a leisurely brunch, a romantic dinner or simply looking for one of Singapore’s most Instagram-worthy new dining destinations, Tomacado promises a meal surrounded by flowers—and perhaps a bouquet to take home afterwards.
