Japan’s A-PRICE Wholesale Concept Lands in Singapore

TOHO Singapore has opened its first A-PRICE outlet in Tanjong Pagar, marking the brand’s debut outside Japan and giving local food and beverage businesses a new way to source professional-grade ingredients at competitive prices.

The store, located at 120 Tanjong Pagar Road, is Singapore’s first Japanese cash-and-carry concept built specifically for F&B professionals. Shoppers can pick up cooking oils, sauces, Japonica rice, sustainably sourced seafood, fresh produce and other daily kitchen staples, all supported by TOHO Group’s established sourcing and logistics network.

A-PRICE is a brand under TOHO Co., Ltd, a wholesale food distribution group that has been operating since 1947 and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime Market. The A-PRICE format itself dates back to 1987, when the first outlet opened in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture.

The idea was originally aimed at restaurants and other food businesses that struggled with conventional delivery systems, whether because they sat outside delivery zones or couldn’t meet minimum order requirements. The cash-and-carry model let these operators buy professional-grade ingredients directly, without the added cost of delivery. Since then, the brand has grown to more than 80 locations across Japan.

By tapping into TOHO Group’s global sourcing reach, warehousing and supply chain infrastructure, A-PRICE has been able to combine bulk purchasing power with strict quality checks, keeping prices low without cutting corners on quality.

The Singapore store will carry TOHO Singapore’s own in-house labels, including EAST BEE, S.E.A LION, Bread ‘N Better and FRESHdirect, as well as sustainably farmed salmon and sustainably caught lobster. Although the format was designed with trade buyers in mind, the public is welcome to shop there too, while registered F&B professionals get extra discounts as corporate members.

A few offerings mark firsts for Singapore. toho coffee, a brand that has supplied hotels, restaurants and cafes throughout Japan since the 1950s, will be sold here as fresh brews, whole beans, ground coffee and drip packs, the first time it’s been available outside Japan in a retail setting. The coffee is sourced, blended and roasted at TOHO’s dedicated roastery on Rokko Island in Kobe.

The store will also serve freshly baked pastries daily, including croissants and pain au chocolat made by Bread ‘N Better, a TOHO Group bakery business.

A-PRICE Singapore opens daily except Sundays and public holidays, from 11am to 8pm. Visit its website at www.a-price.com.sg.
