REVIEW: Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

As the adage goes, time is money. If you are one who values time over money, you would want to invest in a Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum cleaner.

Gone are the days of being locked down at home and having time to do household chores. Most of us are back to the pre-Covid daily grind of working in the office. This means by the time we get back home from work, the last thing on our mind is to pick up a mop and vacuum to clean the floor.

Enter Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra to the rescue.

With a name like that, it sure sounds like a superhero coming to deliver me from the evils of the world. Well, it might not be able to do exactly that but it could help me lessen my load of household chores. And, that alone is pretty much life-saving in my books.

Decked in all black, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has the looks of a lean, mean cleaning machine. It is the latest to come out of Roborock’s range of robot vacuum cleaners.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra comes with a docking station, which is rather bulky. This means if you have a small pad like me, you might want to consider the smaller models of Roborock. But if you have the luxury of space, then the size should not be a problem.

There is good reason for the size of the docking station, or Ultra Dock as Roborock calls it. The Ultra Dock houses two water tanks – one for dirty water and one for clean water – as well as a dust canister that can empty the dust compartment from the robot vacuum into a dust bag, allowing you up to seven weeks of vacuuming without having to change a dust bag.

The Ultra Dock will also automatically refill the water tank of the robot vacuum, thereby extending the mopping range up to 300 sqm. What about cleaning the mop, you may ask. Bravo, the Ultra Dock uses an active brush that will self-clean the mop piece, as well as clean the dock base and siphon dirty water into the water tank for dirty water.

Assembling everything together and getting things to work took about 20 minutes. The assembly was rather idiot-free, with just a few pieces of items to plug into place. There is a QR code on the robot vacuum to scan to connect to the Robotock app, but that that didn’t work for me for some reason. In the end, I had to manually download the app and configure the wifi network.

After filling up the Clean Water tank, the robot vacuum is good to go.

Ready, Get Set, Clean

Watching the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra at work is like watching a waltz. It weaves in and out of furniture gracefully, ducking obstacles like my dog with ease. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra comes with a Reactive 2.0 technology, using a 3D structured light obstacle avoidance system and a neural processing unit. It is also equipped with LED light; when in a low-light area, the LED light automatically turns on.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra maps my dwelling very accurately. I could see the mapping clearly on the Roborock app. I could also choose for the robot vacuum to clean just selected areas of my home rather than the entire apartment.

Now, the all-important question – how well does the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra clean? I would say it does a pretty admirable job expelling all the dust and dirt in its path. Vibrating at up to 3000 times per minute, the Sonic Vibration mimics the action of scrubbing for a deep effective clean. The suction power at 5100 Pa is one of the highest in the market. Most vacuum cleaners only have 2500 Pa. At more than double the power of most vacuums, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is really all fired up with banishing dust and dirt.

If your home is carpeted, you don’t have to worry about having to remove the carpet too. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is able to sense a carpet with its auto mop lifting technology, automatically lifting itself up onto a carpet to vacuum.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra not only cleans and vacuums, it allows you to “see” as well. It has an in-built camera that allows remote video viewing and with an onboard mic installed, you could even have a conversation with people at home through the Roborock app. Hmm, ideas for spying on your kids at home?

Final Take

Granted, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is not the cheapest robot vacuum cleaner out in the market. However, considering all the convenience and automatic features (self-cleaning, self-emptying and self-refilling), the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the most hassle-free robot vacuum you can find. Money or time? You decide.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can be purchased online at Roborock’s official store on Lazada and Shopee.
