We are all guilty of this – getting so caught up with our jobs and lives that we take our loved ones for granted. Think about the times you’ve neglected your loved ones. Or the last time you were upset with them and refused to speak to them for days. We do all these, partly because we take for granted that our loved ones are still around.
In June last year, my Dad was unexpectedly hospitalised due to pneumonia. And, it so happened that all three of my siblings were overseas at that time. The responsibility of taking care of my Dad during that period fell on my shoulders. I also had to ferry my Mom to the hospital and back home every day, amidst juggling job deadlines and appointments at the same time. Thankfully, my Dad got well after a week. It was another reminder to me not to take our loved ones for granted.
The current Fuelled by Love campaign by Shell got me thinking about this incident. Besides telling myself to be more appreciative of my parents, there is another “loved one” which helped me through that trying period – our trusty family car. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to quickly send my Dad to the hospital, and also drive my Mom to the hospital to visit my Dad every day. A trusty vehicle can help save the day. (All the Shell V-Power Nitro+ I’ve fed the car was not in vain.)
And, because it’s the month of love, Shell wants you to share the love you have for your car. Here’s what to do:
- Submit a photo of yourself with your ride on Instagram from now till 19 March 2017.
- Your caption should relate your story of your love for your ride and how important a role it plays in your life.
- Hashtag your caption with #FuelledbyLoveSG and #ShellSG. Ensure your Instagram account is made public.
Shell will then select the best 20 entries to be featured on their website shell.com.sg/fuelledbylove. Members of the public can then vote for these 20 shortlisted entries from 20 to 31 March 2017. The entry with the most number of votes will be declared the grand prize winner and win S$1,500 worth of Shell fuel vouchers.
