Children tend to be a tad more prone to accidents, but do you know that 60% of childhood accidents actually happen at home?

Sensing this need for added protection for families, AXA Insurance recently unveiled an innovative, first-of-its-kind Personal Accident (PA) plan in Singapore. Named ‘AXA SmartFamily’, the brand new PA plan is unlike any other in that it offers eight family services on top of financial coverage.

AXA launched this new product on 2 September 2015 at an event attended by numerous celebrities from FLY Entertainment, and the media. Well-loved local celebrity Adrian Pang hosted a game show with Beatrice Chia-Richmond and Suhaimi Yusof as contestants to show the audience what AXA SmartFamily is all about in a light-hearted and easy-to-comprehend manner.

AXA SmartFamily is all about protection for the family. In addition to financial coverage, it offers a suite of eight services to help ease the road to recovery for families:

  1. Child guardian – Arranging and paying to fetch your children to and from school.
  1. Home nursing – Arranging and paying for a nurse to attend to your follow-up treatments or therapy at home.
  1. Consultation with a therapist – Making appointments and payment for your therapy or rehabilitation services.
  1. Doctor’s home visits – Arranging and paying for a doctor’s visit for your follow-up treatments.
  1. Home modification – Arranging and paying for modification to your home to accommodate your disability.
  1. Transportation for medical appointments – Arranging and paying for transportation (i.e. taxi service) to the hospital/clinics for follow-up treatments.
  1. Housekeeping and meal services – Arranging and paying for professional house-cleaning and meal services.
  1. Consultation with a psychologist – Making appointments and payment on your behalf for psychologist consultations.

Don’t underestimate these eight services. According to Dr Tan Hwee Sim from Raffles Hospital, studies have shown that at least one-third of all people involved in non-fatal accidents suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, persistent anxiety, depression and phobias, even a year after the incident.

So how does coverage for the entire family work, you may ask. For instance, your family comprises two adults and two children. If you opt for a S$250,000 annual coverage plan, each adult will be covered at 100% of sum assured (i.e. S$250,000) and each child will be covered at 50% (i.e. S$125,000). There are no limits to the number of children within a family.

There are three different ranges of sum assured you can choose from – S$250,000, S$500,000 and S$1 million.

The annual premiums are pretty affordable too:
