When Chatterbox opened its doors in 1971, it redefined how Singaporeans viewed hawker fare, transforming humble chicken rice into an icon of elevated local dining. Now, more than 50 years later, Chatterbox is spreading its wings with a brand-new café at Resorts World Sentosa, and yes, the legendary Mandarin Chicken Rice is still very much the star. But if you’re only ordering the chicken rice, you’re missing out on some seriously outstanding supporting acts.
Located at Weave in Resorts World Sentosa, the newly launched Chatterbox Café offers a refreshed concept that combines Singapore’s most beloved flavours with a breezy, modern-day café experience. Beyond the classic staples, the menu features bold reinterpretations of local favourites, as well as some new dishes that are destined to become crowd-pleasers.
If you’re planning a visit (and you should), here are the top five dishes you absolutely must try apart from the famous chicken rice.
1. Stir-fried Prawns with Palm Sauce: So Good, You’ll Eat the Head Too

We’ll cut to the chase: these prawns are spectacular. Stir-fried to a perfect crisp and cloaked in a glossy caramelised palm sugar sauce, this dish is a masterclass in balancing sweet, savoury and smoky wok hei. The prawns are so fresh and crunchy that even the heads are addictive — and if you’ve never eaten a prawn head before, this dish might just convert you.
The sauce clings lovingly to every crevice of the shell, so be prepared to get a little messy. But trust us, it’s worth every sticky, finger-licking bite. And oh, did we mention that this dish is exclusive to the Resorts World Sentosa outlet?

2. Grilled Chicken Satay: Business-Class Taste Without the Airfare

Let’s be honest. Good satay is getting harder to find these days. Thankfully, Chatterbox Café’s take on this beloved street food classic is possibly the best we’ve had outside of an actual satay man hunched over charcoal.
Served as part of a mixed platter of chicken and beef skewers, the satay is expertly grilled over binchotan, giving it a deep, smoky aroma that lingers seductively. The chicken is succulent and almost buttery — better than what you’ll get in Business Class on Singapore Airlines (and we don’t say that lightly).
Served with ketupat, cucumber, onions and a chunky, sweet-savory peanut sauce, it’s a complete package.

3. Seafood Hokkien Mee: One of the Best in Singapore, Full Stop

You’ve had Hokkien mee before — but probably not like this.
At Chatterbox Café, this humble hawker favourite gets an indulgent upgrade. The noodles are wok-tossed in a rich seafood broth until every strand is soaked in umami goodness. Fresh prawns, squid, scallops, pork belly and egg are generously piled in, creating a dish that’s hearty, luxurious and outrageously flavourful.
This isn’t your greasy food court version. This is comfort food with a side of elegance, and we dare say one of the best renditions you’ll find anywhere on the island.

4. Stir-fried Beef with Ginger and Onion: A Classic, Done Right

This dish may look simple, but don’t be fooled — the flavours are anything but. Generous slices of tender beef are stir-fried with aromatic ginger and sweet onions, resulting in a savoury, soul-warming dish that’s perfect when you’re after something fuss-free but satisfying.
It’s that familiar flavour you know and love, elevated just enough to feel a little special. Pair it with some jasmine rice and you’ve got a winner.

5. Sweet and Sour Kurobuta Pork: A Fancy Take on a Family Favourite

If sweet and sour pork was your childhood comfort food, this dish is your grown-up upgrade. Using premium Kurobuta pork, the meat is first deep-fried to crispy perfection before being wok-tossed in a tangy, glossy sweet and sour glaze.
The pork stays tender on the inside while the outside has that irresistible crunch. It’s nostalgic yet elevated, proving that even the most familiar dishes can be transformed with the right ingredients and technique.

Don’t Skip the Sweets

Chatterbox Café doesn’t just stop at savoury hits. Save space for dessert — particularly the Peranakan Sweet Platter (S$13++) filled with handcrafted kuehs like Sarang Semut and Sago Bandung, or the signature Coconut Ice Cream (S$13++), served in an actual coconut husk and topped with crunchy walnuts and tropical fruit.
Pair your sweets with a refreshing Peanut Butter Coconut Shake (S$8++) or the tropical Peach, Yuzu and Tamarind Slushie (S$8++) for a complete treat-yourself moment.
