If there’s one thing Ultra Violette knows how to do, it’s creating SPF formulas that people actually want to wear – no small feat in a world of chalky white casts and sticky finishes. So when Ultra Violette launched the Future Fluid, a tinted SPF serum promising radiant skin with a lightweight feel, it got me wondering if this could be the multi-tasking, glow-giving miracle my mornings had been waiting for.
At first glance, Future Fluid ticks all the right boxes. It’s SPF 50, offers a lovely wash of colour, and is packed with skin-loving ingredients like vitamin C and niacinamide. Plus, Ultra Violette’s branding is, as always, on point – think bright, cheerful packaging that just begs to be displayed on your dressing table.
The product itself has a thin, watery texture – noticeably more fluid than your typical tinted moisturiser or serum foundation. This is where my relationship with Future Fluid gets a little complicated. On the one hand, the lightness of the formula makes it an absolute dream to blend. I simply dot a few drops across my face, and within seconds it melts seamlessly into my skin with minimal effort. There’s no tugging, no weird streaking, and definitely no heavy, greasy feeling. It’s as if I’ve simply woken up with better skin.
The tint is another major win for me. It’s sheer, but enough to even out minor redness and give a healthy, sun-kissed finish – perfect for days when you want to look like you’ve made an effort without actually making much of an effort. It doesn’t settle into fine lines or cling to dry patches, which, as someone who’s had one too many run-ins with cranky base products, I truly appreciate.
But – and it’s a small but worth mentioning – the ultra-fluid consistency isn’t entirely to my liking. While I adore how easily it blends, I find it a tad too watery for my personal taste. I have to be extra careful when dispensing it, as one overly enthusiastic squeeze can result in a minor flood across my hand. It also means that if I’m in a rush, it’s easy to over-apply and end up looking a little too shiny for my liking. I would have preferred a slightly thicker texture – something with a bit more body that feels like it’s gripping onto the skin rather than just gliding over it, and giving me more control on how much to dispense.
That said, the wear throughout the day is impressively decent for a product that feels so light. It doesn’t pill, it doesn’t oxidise into some strange shade of orange, and it stays looking fresh for several hours. If you have drier skin, you’ll probably adore how hydrating it feels; those with oilier complexions, however, might want to pair it with a mattifying primer or powder for longevity, especially in the heat and humidity.
One thing Future Fluid definitely nails is that effortless “your skin but better” vibe. It’s the kind of product you throw on for a quick brunch, a trip to the market, or even just a lazy day working from home when you want to look a little more alive. It fits perfectly into that growing beauty category of “soft glam” – polished but never overdone.
Would I repurchase it? I’m on the fence. I love the way it looks and blends, and on good skin days, it’s practically foolproof. But that ultra-watery texture does make me slightly hesitant. It’s a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things, but one that means I tend to reserve Future Fluid for days when I have the luxury of applying my makeup slowly and carefully – not when I’m running late and need something foolproof.
Overall, Ultra Violette Future Fluid is a gorgeous product that lives up to much of its hype. It’s fresh, it’s radiant, and it genuinely feels lovely on the skin. If you’re after a sheer, luminous finish and don’t mind a runnier formula, it could very well be your new favourite.
