Who would have thought that the first overseas outpost of a French cheese brand wouldn’t be in London, New York, or even Paris—but Singapore? That’s exactly the case with Monts & Terroirs (M&T), which has just launched its first-ever cheese boutique and bistro outside France, not in a charming cobblestone street in Lyon or a chic arrondissement in Paris, but right in the heart of Singapore’s bustling Central Business District.
This marks a major step for Sodiaal, France’s largest dairy cooperative, which represents over 8,500 farms and 15,000 farmers. Instead of opening a retail unit in its home country, M&T has decided to make its debut in Asia, bringing authentic, premium mountain cheeses straight from the lush French highlands to Singapore’s urban jungle.
Nestled in Guoco Tower at Tanjong Pagar, M&T’s boutique and bistro offer an immersive French cheese experience like no other. Expect a meticulously curated selection of cheeses, crafted with milk from cows grazing in pristine French mountain pastures. From the robust flavours of aged Comté to the creamy richness of Reblochon, every bite is a taste of France’s cheese-making heritage.

For those who prefer their cheese melted, grilled, or decadently layered between slices of artisan bread, the bistro’s menu is a dream come true. Highlights include the indulgent Comté Croque Monsieur, the Angus Beef Burger with a gooey cheese twist, and the irresistible Le Cordon Bleu Maison. Whether you’re after a quick bite, a leisurely lunch, or a refined dinner, M&T is ready to impress.

Overseeing the bistro’s culinary creations is Chef Nicolas Drouglazet, a French chef with over 24 years of experience in prestigious kitchens across France, Asia, and Saudi Arabia. His mission? To elevate Singapore’s appreciation for fine French cheeses and showcase the authentic flavours of French alpine cuisine.

Farm-to-Table, The French Way
Unlike other cheese retailers, M&T’s concept goes beyond just selling cheese. The brand champions the farm-to-table philosophy, ensuring that every wheel and wedge is crafted with respect for traditional cheesemaking techniques and the unique terroir of the French Alps and Jura mountains.
Jean-Roch Boquet, Head of Marketing & Operations at Sodiaal International, describes the launch as a milestone moment: “Every M&T cheese is crafted with milk fresh from cows that graze the lush highland pastures across the French mountains. Through their artful craft, our master cheesemakers accentuate the subtle nuances of the French mountain terroir found in every drop of milk, crafting cheeses that are both remarkably fresh and a true expression of the land.”

When asked by Singapore was chosen as their first outpost, Boquet replied that they believe Singapore’s diverse landscape means a consumer base that is more open than those in other countries. M&T’s choice to open in the Lion City before even setting up a retail presence in France is a testament to Singapore’s growing reputation as a global culinary hub. With a discerning foodie scene that embraces international flavours, Singaporeans are more than ready to welcome this artisanal cheese haven.
So, whether you’re a lifelong cheese connoisseur or just looking for your next indulgent meal, M&T is set to bring the best of French fromage straight to Singapore’s shores. Bon appétit!
