Inviting Iftar Buffet at Four Points by Sheraton

Ramadan is right around the corner. If you are looking for ideas on where to break your fast, look no further than Four Points By Sheraton. Chef Khalid from the hotel has whipped up a feast of elevated local delights at the sumptuous Iftar Buffet.

Look forward to his signature Ayam Percik (Malaysian-style Spicy Roast Chicken), Kambing Panggang (grilled lamb) and Singapore Chilli Crab, with a Chendol station and their trademark Durian Pengat (Durian Purée), because no meal is complete without dessert.

Chef Khalid’s Mutton Rendang was everything a good rendang should be – a rich, tender, explosion of flavour. His Kambing Paggang with its medley of roasted vegetables was equally delightful, especially paired with gravy.


Surprisingly, one of the highlights of the night for me was Bubur Lambuk Seafood, a humble porridge dish that’s traditionally served at iftar or sahur. It’s lightly spiced and fragrant, and can be prepared in a variety of ways with different ingredients. Chef Khalid’s version was rustic and wholesome, full of meat, veggies, and aromatics that had me going back for seconds and even thirds. This is something I’d love to have on one of the cold, wet days Singapore is prone to having, or when I’m longing for some comfort food.


Another thing that I couldn’t get enough of was the Durian Pengat. Their signature for good reason, the purée was so luxuriously rich, with meaty chunks of durian flesh stirred into the creamy paste. This is another dish where I couldn’t stop at one bowl and probably would have had more if I hadn’t reached the point of bursting by then.
