Let’s face it – no matter how well you clean your face, you will never be about to get it 100% clean just by using your bare hands. Now, since we can’t get our face to be 100% clean, how about 99%?
Swedish brand Foreo is known for its gentle, naturally antimicrobial silicone skin devices, which are said to remove 99% of dirt, oil and make-up residue from your face. Foreo’s suite of Luna devices make use of T-Sonic pulsations and soft silicone bristles – said to be 35 times more hygienic than nylon bristles – to clean skin in a gentle yet effective way. And the latest to join the suite is the Luna 4.
As someone who is typically fuss-free and does not like to spend too much time on my facial cleansing routine, I was curious to see if Luna 4 will make me change my mind about upping my cleansing game.
First Impressions
Luna 4 comes in variations for different skin types – sensitive, combination and normal. I opted for the one for combination skin, which comes in a mint green hue.
This is the first Foreo product and the second face-cleansing device I have ever used. I didn’t like the design of the other face-cleansing device I have as it could not stand. Thus, I truly appreciate that Foreo has designed its devices to be able to stand on their own.
As with its predecessor Luna 3, Luna 4 allows one to customise the device’s vibration intensity for a bespoke cleaning using Foreo’s mobile app. But I am a tactile person and I love the fact that Luna 4 has two buttons on the back of the device to allow me to choose between a gentle mode and a deep-cleanse mode. Imagine having to reach for your mobile phone in the midst of a shower just to change the mode. Nope, ain’t gonna get my phone wet.
Luna 4 does a fairly decent job of cleaning my face. The silicone bristles do not feel rough on my skin. Paired with Foreo’s Micro-Foam Cleanser (S$78), Luna 4 cleans my face without making it feel dry. Cleaning the device is easy too – all I have to do is to wash the brush surface with soap and water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
What impress me, though, are the guided massages found in the mobile app. Having recently been introduced to face yoga, I am thrilled to discover Luna 4’s face massaging features.
The mobile app has four face massaging treatments set in place, each serving a different function. There is one that targets the eye and brow areas, one for the neck, one to sculpt the face and lastly, one to reduce the appearance of frown lines around the mouth area.
To massage the face, I simply flip my device and use the ridges on the back to glide across my face gently. The mobile app provides a video demo for each of the treatments. I tried the 2.3-minute Magic Mouth treatment, which seeks to define and tighten the neck and jawline, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines. It was relatively easy to follow the instructions on the demo video and fun too, I might add. To avoid dragging the skin, Foreo recommends applying Serum Sérum Serum (S$98), Foreo’s ultra-hydrating and lightweight serum first before the massage.
Takeaway
Foreo Luna 4 changes the face-cleansing game with its massaging functions. If you are looking for more bang for your buck, the two-in-one smart facial cleansing and firming Luna 4 will change the way you look at cleansing devices.
Foreo Luna 4 retails at S$466 and comes with a two-year warranty. It is available at Sephora Singapore and Lazada.
