You have probably heard – and tried – plant-based meat. But cultivated meat? That would be a first for you if you head down to Michelin-plate hawker Keng Eng Kee this weekend to try satay made from cultivated chicken meat.

GOOD Meat – a US-based brand that uses technology to cultivate chicken meat – is debuting chicken satay at zichar restaurant Keng Eng Kee Seafood for a three-day pop-up. This is the first time this new product is served to the public. Singapore is also the first and only country in the world that has approved this new product.

East Just, Inc., is the company behind GOOD Meat. The company seeks to build a healthier and more sustainable food system. It harnesses science and technology to cultivate chicken meat from chicken cell obtained from the tip of the chicken feather.

The collaboration of GOOD Meat and Keng Eng Kee is part of a pop-up series to feature some of Singapore’s well-loved hawker stalls – many of which were affected by the pandemic.

From 20 to 22 May 2022, Keng Eng Kee will be serving customers GOOD Meat cultivated chicken satay with cucumber slaw, peanut sauce, Singapore bee hoon and their signature tofu for a price of S$13.80.

Keng Eng Kee Seafood is located at 124 Bukit Merah Lane 1 #01-136 Singapore 150124.
