Tucked away among the condominiums of West Coast, the entrance of Oasia Residence can be tough to spot at first. It shares an entrance with Seahill condominium though the building itself soars proudly above the other residences. Look up and you won’t miss it.
The Oasia brand was launched in 2011. It promises a restorative respite in the city that allows guests to Journey Well while travelling through three wellness pillars – Refresh, Refuel, and Recharge. Refresh ensures you will find rest in a comfortable, peaceful and rejuvenating environment; Refuel represents nourishment through wholesome food; and Recharge gives guests opportunities to unwind and invigorate the mind and body.
Oasia Residence is a serviced residence property that is operated by Far East Hospitality, one of Singapore’s leading operator of hotels and serviced residences. You know you’re in experienced hands from the moment you set foot inside.
A serviced residence is ideal for the savvy business or leisure traveller looking for a home away from home when they are on the road for a prolonged period. Here you will find a cosier and more personal enclave, equipped with its own kitchenette and laundry facilities. They have a dryer too so you don’t have to worry about where to hang your clothes.
Grab a nutritious and delicious Continental breakfast from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) to fuel your busy workday. Help yourself to muesli (regular and bircher), wholegrain bread and cereal, fruit, salad, cheese and yoghurt. There’s also fruit infused water – different flavours every day – and fruit juices in the fridge which you can help yourself to throughout the day or night. I personally love the cookies and nuts they put out for guests. I squirrelled away several oatmeal and raisin cookies and almond cookies to enjoy in the comfort of my room while watching cable TV.
If salad or muesli doesn’t cut it, there’s a McDonald’s conveniently situated just opposite. Sometimes we all need a Big Mac and 20 chicken nuggets for supper. No shame in that!
Feel like whipping up your own meal? West Coast Plaza is about seven to eight minutes away. Get groceries from the supermarket there to create what suits your palate right in your room or in the barbeque pavilions downstairs. We were taught how to create simple dishes like mushroom soup, provencal chicken and poached pears. Some dishes like the mushroom soup and provencal chicken can be kept in the freezer. You can make a big batch and portion them out to have your meals sorted for the rest of the week. Then it’s just a matter of heating them up when you’re hungry and you can enjoy the rest of your stay without worrying about your meals.
Sweat out the nuggets you may have consumed with the variety of fitness facilities available all over the compound. There’s an outdoor fitness area, outdoor lap pool, massage pavillions (bring in your own masseuse), gym and rooftop tennis court. They even have an aqua gym! I’ve never seen one offered elsewhere and it seems like a lot of fun. Sadly I didn’t get to try it because my legs turned to jelly after a sunrise zumba session. I did manage to find time to soak in the private pool on the seventh floor. I had it all to myself and the serenity was just what I needed to recharge. The utilities on Level 1 are shared with the occupants of Seahill condominium. The ones located on the seventh floor and above are for Serviced Residence guests only.
Oasia Residence is particularly great for the long term business traveller. It’s especially convenient if your workplace is located in One-north, the International Business Park or Mapletree Business City. All these places are a short 10 to 15 minutes’ drive away. The CBD, Marina Bay Financial area, Orchard Road or West Industrial Area are slightly further at 20 to 30 minutes’ away but still extremely accessible via the highway. NUS and NTU are only 10 to 15 minutes away by car so grab some friends for a week-long staycation while still having easy access to your school.
Guests are provided with a complimentary Handy Mobile Device. You can use it for free local calls, free international calls to select countries, internet connectivity and for tips on how to get around Singapore. Use it as you would a smartphone. Most of us have one of our own but it’s great as a backup in case your phone’s battery runs out. It’s for your use for the duration of your stay and you can bring it out of your room, but you just have to remember to return it when you check out.
There are 140 rooms in total here, 38 Studios, 64 One-Bedrooms and 38 Two-Bedrooms apartments. Gather your colleagues and friends or family and choose a room which best suits your needs. I don’t know about you but a barbeque followed by a dip in one of the several pools seems like the perfect way to refresh, refuel and recharge myself. 2016 was trying in so many ways. With it coming to a close, a stay in Oasia Residence helped to end it on a sweet note.
