Singaporeans will probably not have to travel too far to dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant in future.

Come next year, Michelin will release a Singapore edition of the Michelin Guide in collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board and Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

First published by the French tyre company more than a century ago, the Michelin Guides are a series of annual food guide books. Originally, the Michelin Guide was limited to Europe. It subsequently ventured out of Europe to other countries. Currently, only Japan, Hong Kong and Macau have guides. Singapore will be the first in Southeast Asia to have one.

The Singapore edition of the Michelin Guide will be out in the second half of 2016. It will be a bilingual one, with English and Chinese text.

The Michelin Guide currently consists of 26 guides and covers 23 countries with more than 45,000 addresses worldwide.
