Malaysian carrier Malindo Air has clinched the Airline of the Year (Passenger) 2014 award at the KLIA Awards 2014 last night, an annual event introduced in 2006 by Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) to recognise achievements by Malaysia Airports’ partners in areas such as passenger movement, growth, sales, international recognition and service.
“We are very honoured to be awarded as the Airline of the Year (Passenger) for year 2014. This award is widely regarded as the industry’s benchmark for excellence,” said Chandran Rama Muthy, Chief Executive Officer of Malindo Air.
“For us, the award clearly reflects a vote of confidence from the regional travellers, who acknowledge and appreciate our continuous drive for high-quality service. To be voted the Airline of the Year (Passenger) for 2014 really means something to be proud of for our 2,000-strong workforce across all ticketing stations and airport hubs in Malaysia.”
Malindo is currently on an expansion programme, adding three more Boeing 737 NG aircraft to its existing fleet of 11 ATRs and 13 Boeing 737 NGs. The airline, started in March 2013 with merely domestic flights, has since grown to operate routes to all major airports in Malaysia and across regional destinations in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Singapore. It also plans to operate new routes to southern China and Australia by end of this year.
