Air New Zealand has done it again – coming out with an out-of-the-box safety video. This time, it teams up with New Zealand’s national men’s rugby union team All Blacks to produce a hip and hilarious Men in Black routine, inspired by the Colombia Pictures blockbuster Men in Black.
Together with the All Blacks coach and team members, All Blacks’ captain Richie McCaw and Dan Carter act as Men in Black agents in this latest safety video instalment. Starring alongside the two long-serving All Blacks is Coach Steve Hansen, team mates Kieran Read, Keven Mealamu, Sam Whitelock and Israel Dagg who gets to test his vocals alongside Kiwi musician Stan Walker.
American actor Rip Torn reprises his role as Chief of the Men in Black while Wallabies great David Campese, former England Captain Martin Johnson and former Argentinean Captain Agustin Pichot make cameo appearances.
All Blacks captain McCaw said the players had a great time making the video. “We had a lot of laughs on set and were blown away by Israel’s hidden singing talent,” he added. “If rugby doesn’t work out for him, he clearly has a promising career as a back-up singer.”
Air New Zealand’s previous safety videos include themes from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, which have attracted more than 12 million global online views.
The airline’s latest video, Men In Black Safety Defenders, is being rolled out across its fleet from today.
