April Fool’s Day and Google can only mean one thing – FUN. And, this year Google has brought back the nostalgic arcade game Pac-Man, more specifically on Google Maps.
The first time Google featured the Pac-Man was back in 2010 in a Doodle. Last year, the company placed Pokemon Easter eggs by letting people hunt for Pokemon monsters on Google Maps (and not to mention, not getting any work done for the day).
You can play Pac-Man on Google Maps in two ways. Here’s how:
On the Web
Visit Google Maps on the internet. You’ll find a small Pac-Man icon at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. Click on it and the fun begins!
You can control your Pac-Man with the arrow keys on your keyboard. Google will also analyse your map — if the map is not suitable for gameplay, you can select a new area or simply click “I’m feeling lucky” to be transported to a pre-selected area for play.
On Mobile
OK, things get a little bit more tricky for playing on the mobile. You’ll need to solve one of many riddles from a Google support page to find hidden locations where you can play Pac-Man. For instance, one of the riddles is “Triumph is délicieux.” (Psst… the answer is ‘Arc de Triomphe’.)
Once you’ve solved one riddle, type the answer under the search bar and you’ll be brought to a location where you’ll find a Pac-Man button that allows you to start the game.
Have fun wasting time again. You’re most welcome.
