Swiss watchmaker Omega has officially opened its latest flagship store in Chengdu, China on 15 February 2015. Housed in a historic building near the Chinese city’s Daci Temple, the new boutique is a fine example of luxury meets Chinese architecture, giving new meaning to the term “House of Omega”.
The building itself is a protected heritage site, and thus, great care was taken during the construction of the two-storey Omega boutique in Taikoo Li Chengdu. The structure of the building is to remain intact while alterations to the original structure and style were kept to a minimum. The boutique’s entrance combines stone with dark wood — a design complemented by the original wooden ceiling, pillars and walls found throughout the boutique’s interior.
As with many of its stores around the world, the watchmaker has gone to lengths to create a luxurious and elegant environment that reflects the culture and traditional architecture of the country for this latest boutique addition.
