Popcorn’s Out, Banchan’s In: Singapore’s Tastiest Premiere Yet

Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3 just got a dazzling new addition — and it’s not a new boarding gate. Enter Korea Culture, the city’s first-ever cinema-themed Korean semi-buffet restaurant, that puts a refined twist on everyday dining. This concept celebrates the richness of Korean culinary heritage and hospitality, brought to life through creative presentations, thoughtful service, and a uniquely immersive atmosphere.

The restaurant’s cinema-inspired decor currently features Squid Game–themed elements, including its recognisable green and pink tracksuits — with fresh new themes to be introduced regularly. Partake in this refined yet approachable semi-buffet experience that merges vibrant flavours and a warm, welcoming setting.

Every main course comes with access to over 50 rotating side dishes — a true celebration of Korea’s beloved banchan culture. From classic staples like kimchi, beansprouts, and pickled radish to playful surprises such as tteokbokki, japchae and cheese sticks, the buffet encourages exploration with every plate. Korea Culture redefines casual dining by offering an elevated take on the traditional buffet, delivering both sophistication and comfort in equal measure.

To get a fuller taste of the menu, my dining companion and I got two mains to share. We had the Korean Ginseng Chicken ($48.80), and it was easily the standout dish of the meal. Served in a generous earthen pot, the broth was luxuriously creamy and aromatic, steeped in the earthy warmth of ginseng and lightly sweetened by juicy red dates. A whole young chicken, generously stuffed with glutinous rice, arrived tender and fall-apart soft, its meat soaking up all the nourishing flavours of the soup. It’s a hearty, soulful dish that feels like it came straight from a Korean grandmother’s kitchen — perfect for sharing between two.

The Grilled Bulgogi Chicken ($24.50) took a different route. While we expected thinly sliced chicken on a sizzling hotplate, the dish arrived as a pan-seared chicken chop, marinated in the familiar sweet-savoury glaze that defines bulgogi. The meat was well-seasoned, with crisp edges and juicy bite, though a tad oily, and lacked the interactive or textural variety that made the ginseng chicken more memorable. Still, for those craving straightforward, punchy flavours, it holds its own.

For those less inclined to order a main, the restaurant also offers the banchan buffet as a standalone option at $21.90 — an affordable, satisfying way to graze your way through a full Korean flavour spectrum. There’s a sense of discovery at every turn — and more than enough variety to suit any palate. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, free-flow Häagen-Dazs ice cream seals the deal on a high note.

To celebrate its opening, diners can also enjoy a fun cultural nod: from now till 30 April 2025, take part in iconic Korean mini-games such as Ddakji, Jegi, Gong-gi, Dice, and Rock, Paper, Scissors, — with each win granting 10% off your bill, capped at a generous 50% per table.

Whether you’re a long-time lover of Korean cuisine or simply in search of a unique dining concept, Korea Culture delivers an experience that’s equal parts flavourful and fun. From its creative theming to its endless banchan and hearty mains, this spot brings a playful slice of Seoul to the heart of Changi. Come hungry, bring a friend, and let your taste buds take the lead — no boarding pass required.
