The event, held at the bustling Suntec Atrium on 9 April 2025 showcased MG’s refreshed identity and its promise of delivering “More to MG.” In a testament to just how big this launch is for MG, Carl Gotham, the man behind the sleek lines of both the MG Cyberster and the new MGS5, flew in from London for his very first visit to Singapore.

As Director of SAIC’s Advanced Design Studio in London, Carl shared his design journey and vision behind the MGS5 EV, making the event a rare treat for fans of automotive design. (And yes, he handled the heat and humidity like a champ too.)
A Design That Turns Heads

Sleek and thoughtfully sculpted, the MGS5 EV embodies MG’s new emotional design language, featuring refined proportions and aerodynamic curves. Exterior colour options include Soul Blue, Flare Red, Andes Gray, and York White, with interior themes in either a chic White & Beige or a classic all-Black.
Room for Life
Inside, the extended wheelbase and best-in-class cabin space ensure comfort for both drivers and passengers.

Power That Delivers (Without Waking the Neighbours)
Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the MGS5 EV is equipped with a 99kW rear-wheel drive motor producing 250Nm of torque. It does 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and features nimble handling with a turning radius of 10.53m. Braking from 100 km/h to standstill takes just 35.5m — handy for sudden lane-changers on the PIE.
Long Range, Fast Charging
With a 62kWh battery, the MGS5 EV delivers a 425km range on the WLTP combined cycle, and up to 560km for city driving. DC fast charging powers the battery from 10% to 80% in only 26 minutes. This is class leading for vehicles in this price bracket.
Technology That Makes Sense
Inside, the MGS5 EV is fitted with a 10.25” digital driver display and a 12.8” HD touchscreen infotainment console.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, alongside integrated Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok apps. The MG iSMART app allows for remote control and real-time vehicle monitoring, giving drivers greater control at their fingertips.
Safety, Elevated
MG Pilot — the brand’s suite of 16 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) — includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, and more. The MGS5 EV is built to EURO NCAP 5-star standards and includes seven airbags and four pretensioner seatbelts, reinforcing its strong safety credentials.
