According to Seif Hamdy, General Manager of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, La Maison 1888 has been striving for culinary perfection since its opening. Hamdy added that this accolade signifies a significant turning point in the restaurant’s history.

La Maison 1888, the first Vietnamese restaurant to be led by a Michelin-starred chef —first Michel Roux before Pierre Gagnaire — is located in a charming French Indochine-style palace within the grounds of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort designed by the renowned architect and interior designer Bill Bensley. You will find another epicurean experience unlike any other in Vietnam. The food has a decidedly French flavour with clear Vietnamese elements. Pierre Gagnaire is a culinary legend, and La Maison 1888 is paying tribute to him all month long with a special MICHELIN menu that features some of his favourite dishes.

A Star Restaurant is Born

Alongside Gagnaire, Florian Stein—who was renowned for his inventiveness, expertise, and precision at the illustrious Alsatian restaurant Le Chambard—now serves as Chef de Cuisine at La Maison 1888. Beverage Manager and sommelier Jimmy Chang pairs each dish at La Maison 1888 with a wine that reflects the restaurant’s creative spirit. There are numerous unique vintages housed in the restaurant’s wine cellar, which has won the prestigious Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator for seven years running.

Since its opening 11 years ago, La Maison 1888 has been consistently raising the bar for Vietnamese cuisine, and now it has received yet another accolade: the MICHELIN star. This posh restaurant has won several accolades, including CNN’s “Top 10 World’s Best Restaurants,” Architectural Digest’s “Top 10 Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World” and the World Travel Awards’ “World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant.”
