The extraordinary partnership began with the legendary Nicolas Roche – a four-time Olympian, two-time Tour of Spain stage winner and renowned former professional world tour cyclist – who went on a cross-country cycling tour of the country.
By combining the renowned characteristics of Resplendent Ceylon with the adventure, knowledge and safety direction of Across Ceylon, Roche set out on an extraordinary Sri Lankan trip. While every participant can make their own unique itinerary, the Tour De Resplendent typically has four distinct legs. They all lead riders through different parts of Sri Lanka and feature unique landscapes.
Weligama is reached on the first stage, which travels along the southwestern coast of Ahungalla. The second stage is 65 km long and takes cyclists into the vast woods of Yala. Stage three takes participants from Yala to the emerald tea country and on to Hatton by train, while stage four is 35 km long and combines a bike ride with a beautiful train excursion from Kelburne Estate to Lindula.
