Experience an aquatic Christmas for a change. This holiday season, Wisma Atria has unveiled their Christmas activations in the form of a Spellbinding Aquatic Wonderland. From 16 November to 25 December 2023, make merry at the mall as it transforms into a stunning aquatic wonderland, an homage to the legendary Wisma Atria Aquarium of yesteryears.

This year’s Christmas installations were built by the Faculty of Design at LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with local artists and designers to transport visitors to a surreal underwater world. This is the first time Wisma Atria has worked with LASALLE, putting young artists in the spotlight throughout the holiday season. To pay tribute to the former Wisma Atria Aquarium and the nostalgic feelings it evoked in its visitors, LASALLE students responded to an open request by creating Christmas installations inspired by an enchanted aquatic world. The seven best submissions will be featured as part of the holiday decorations at Wisma Atria this year.

Winner Bae Kyungsoo from LASALLE College of the Arts demonstrated sensitivity to the public’s cultural and emotional context by conducting in-depth research into the range of human responses to the Christmas season. Her major motive for her work was to bring joy and produce a sculpture that would inspire talks and a sense of togetherness over the Christmas season. She included colourful coral formations and traditional symbols of good fortune into her design to evoke memories of the old Wisma Atria Aquarium. The end product is a piece of art that is beautiful to look at and brings about positive emotions like nostalgia and contentment.
Indoor Atrium’s Jelly Christmas Pop-Ups
The Level 1 Indoor Atrium Christmas pop-up shop is open from 16 November until 26 December, featuring local clothing and handmade gifts. LESDOUBLEWOOD, maker of the wildly popular Jelilo figurines; YANG OVO, creator of the exquisite Winter Garden paper sculptures sold in New York’s Museum of Modern Art; and SAPIEN TOY STUDIO, who uses his fictitious misfit monsters to spread kindness, are just a few of the local artists who have collaborated with AMOS ANANDA to create limited-edition collectible figurines and merchandise by AMOS AND FRIENDS.
These items can be purchased from the temporary store in the Indoor Atrium on Floor 1. AMOS ANANDA and the other artists will decorate the chamber for the holidays, making for a visual extravaganza.
Even the rest and seating section is nicely decorated.
Customers may also check out AMOS ANANDA’s brand-new porcelain collection, which features one-of-a-kind figures and a beautiful incense burner to round off any setting.
Holiday events begin on 9 December. From 3pm to 5 pm, stop by the atrium of Wisma Atria for live art customisation sessions with these regional talents. At the pop-up, spend S$25 on a uniquely designed pouch, mini canvas, or tote bag painted by one of the artists. Axel Brizzy & Band and Eden, two local bands, also will be playing Christmas songs on the same day.
