InterContinental Hotels and Resorts is extending its groundbreaking cooperation with renowned British contemporary artist Claire Luxton by introducing a new series of fully immersive experiences across Singapore, Australia, and Japan. A collection of Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will be displayed as works of art at InterContinental properties in the three countries.
After having first premiered in London in 2021, followed by Dubai and New York in 2022, the third phase of the successful global partnership will see Luxton’s custom artwork and exclusive NFTs on display in public and in-room installations across InterContinental Singapore, InterContinental Sydney and InterContinental Osaka.
The digital artwork, which is unique to each place, depicts native flora and animals from locations throughout the world where InterContinental hotels can be located. This includes the Emerald Swallowtail Butterfly of Southeast Asia, which is currently exhibited in Singapore, the Kangaroo Paw of Australia, and the Great Purple Emperor of Japan.
The collaboration bring to life the sophistication of the InterContinental brand and the spirit of the company’s founding as a leader in the luxury travel industry. Additionally, the NFTs herald in a new era of digital art, which is emblematic of the brand’s dedication to innovation and evolution as new locations and refurbishment projects provide unforgettable travel experiences for customers all over the world.
Bringing Claire Luxton’s NFT to Life
The foyer of the InterContinental Singapore will become the scene of a fanciful pop-up based on Claire Luxton’s NFT. From 1 to 30 April 2023, guests can visit a 2m-by-2m organza floral display created in collaboration with Luxton to learn more about the partnership. In addition, The Lobby Lounge serves individualised beverages such as the Rosella Tart, The Secret Garden drink, and the Bloom and Blossom mocktail.
In The Lobby Lounge, guests can enjoy a drink, mocktail, or pastry inspired by Claire Luxton’s original artwork, produced by the hotel’s Executive Chef Kenny Chung and mixologist Dora Amurao. For S$32++, you may have a glass of the Secret Garden, which is made with Lavender Infused Gin, Sambuca, Banana Liquer Giffard Farfait Amour, Lemon Juice, Hibiscus Syrup, Passion Fruit Foam, and more. The Mixed Berries Bubble Foam serves as a pedestal for the artwork of Claire Luxton.
A non-alcoholic version of the cocktail is available at Flower and Blossom for S$25++. The Rosella tart (S$26++ per dish) consists of citrus sponge cake and sable cookie topped with elderflower mousse, raspberry and rosella marmalade, and a glaze. The pastry is finished off with yuzu cream, edible flowers, and lime sauce.
