Geneco FiVesta marks the fifth year of business for Geneco, the leading household power provider in Singapore. On 1 April, a new campaign called #SeedTheFuture is launched in an effort to hasten the implementation of Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and create a more environmentally friendly community.
The #SeedTheFuture campaign aims to persuade more people in Singapore to adopt a greener lifestyle by focusing on two main areas of focus.
Power Eco Add-on 2.0: Be Green in Your Own Way
Geneco has experienced a tenfold increase in consumers choosing the Power Eco Add-on over those who signed up for a traditional green plan prior to its launch in 2021, The Eco Add-on has since become Singapore’s first and only customisable green add-on for electricity plans.
Over 40% of consumers who signed up for the Power Eco Add-On choose to offset 100% of their carbon dioxide emissions, as opposed to the 25%, 50% or 75% alternatives. This number is heartening since it indicates that customers’ priorities are changing, with environmental considerations taking precedence over cost.
After a successful initial rollout, Geneco will make the Power Eco Add-On available to customers as of April 1. They are excited to provide their consumers even more agency in their energy decisions. Customers who already have Power Eco Add-ons can use Geneco’s self-service site and mobile app to upgrade their existing add-ons with this enhancement.
Lim Han Kwang, Chief Executive Officer of Geneco, has affirmed the company’s support to the Singapore Green Plan 2030. According to Lim, the company is glad to provide an opportunity for more consumers to embrace a greener way of life.
Geneco x Garden City Fund x Apiary
In order to promote the release of the Power Eco Add-on 2.0 and the #SeedTheFuture campaign, Geneco has teamed up with the National Parks Board’s (NParks) registered charity and IPC, Garden City Fund, and Apiary, a well-liked local ice cream brand. As a result of climate change and habitat degradation, many plant species in Southeast Asia are in danger of extinction. Thanks to these collaborations, the seeds of these endangered species will be preserved and made more widely available.
Geneco has been working closely with Garden City Fund on initiatives like #GreenDiscoverSG, #GreenForProsperity, and Plant-A-Tree events to show their support for NParks’ City in Nature vision and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.
Geneco’s new effort, which builds on its previous collaborations with Garden City Fund, aims to excite the community and foster eco-advocacy by highlighting the importance of seed banking in order to plant the seeds for a greener future. Via the Garden City Fund, Geneco will also be donating $10,000 to the Singapore Botanic Gardens Seed Bank.
Carbon-neutral Ice-cream
Geneco has teamed up with ice cream maker Apiary. This innovative company is known for making premium quality ice cream using natural, fresh ingredients without artificial colouring. They also concocted a limited-edition ice cream that is carbon neutral certified through the purchase of carbon credits for the emissions produced during the production process, with the hope of attracting the attention of the general public to the initiative.
The ice cream is flavoured mostly with zesty calamansi lime, and it also contains attap seeds. Yes, that’s one of the seeds kept at the Singapore Botanic Gardens Seed Bank. The attap seeds are set in a concave dip in the ice cream, and the dish is finished with a sprinkling of golden grain crumbles that have been baked with butter and sugar to simulate soil.
The flavour combination has the right amount of sweet and sour, making for a zesty delight with a pleasant mouthfeel.
From 1 to 30 April 2023, you may purchase the special edition flavour at any Apiary location or through their online shop. This limited-edition pint of ice cream from Apiary retail locations comes with attap seeds and cereal crumbles packaged separately for the whole experience (regular Price $19). Geneco customers get to enjoy a 10% discount.
