The innovative electric vehicle (EV) brand ORA from Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM) is coming to Singapore this year, thanks to a distribution agreement inked today between Cycle and Carriage Singapore (C&C) and GWM. The EV distributorship agreement signing ceremony took place in Jewel Changi Airport’s Rain Vortex, validating the companies’ shared commitment to developing environmentally responsible transportation options.
Singapore’s promising EV market trend
Several positive factors have contributed to the rapid growth of the EV industry in Singapore. These includes governmental policies to promote the adoption of EVs, an increased variety of products and expansion in charging infrastructure.
The government of Singapore has been offering attractive rebates and tax breaks to EV buyers, bringing the price down and increasing their popularity. Moreover, the Singaporean government is actively supporting the transition to EVs among fleet operators by giving financial incentives.
The development of a smart mobility environment is another current market trend. Singapore has been working to increase its share of the electric vehicle market by creating a smart and connected mobility ecosystem that will allow for the widespread adoption of autonomous and connected vehicles and their connection to the electrical grid and other intelligent charging infrastructure. Singapore’s long-term objective is to establish itself as a leader in the development of electric mobility.
There is a shared anticipation that Singapore will soon see a surge in the popularity of environmentally friendly vehicles, and the timing of the relationship of C&C with GWM is perfectly timed to capitalise on this trend.
First up for import into Singapore by C&C is the ORA Good Cat. This electric vehicle was created by a former Porsche designer, Emanuel Derta, using the “Retro Futuristic” design idea, which combines classic elements with futuristic technology.
The ORA Good Cat’s cabin is as sleek as it is practical, thanks to the inclusion of technologies like an electronic dashboard with a huge touchscreen entertainment system, power seats with memory functions, automatic parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
The creation of ORA is predicated on a commitment to safety. Intelligent evade, emergency lane maintaining, and front collision warning with braking aid are just some of its high-tech safety features.
ORA has successfully debuted in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and New Zealand. This is mainly in part of its blend of reasonable prices, extensive selection, fashionable design, and cutting-edge technology. The Cats’ arrival in Singapore is a source of great pride for C&C.
Onwards Singapore Green Plan 2030
One of the goals of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 is the widespread use of environmentally friendly modes of transportation. Most of the cars on the road in the near future will be electric. Our collaboration with GWM is representative of C&C’s efforts to find sustainable transportation solutions in line with the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
With the end of new ICE vehicle registrations set for 2030, ORA will have a head start in the market beginning in 2023 and introducing a variety of models into Singapore on a consistent basis in the years leading up to that deadline.
C&C is committed to supporting its manufacturers’ sustainability goals and their efforts to promote greener products in its role as a responsible distributor. With the goal of reducing carbon emissions, C&C is encouraging the use of electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its ongoing effort to enhance its product offerings in keeping with the sustainability theme.
