Hmlet, Asia’s top flexible living brand, has announced plans to open Owen House by Hmlet. This project is made possible by a collaboration with real estate partners TCRE Partners and JMD Group. The two companies bought the hotel in 2022 and are working with Hmlet on rebranding to Owen House by Hmlet. The hotel is set to open in early 2023.
Hmlet has presented plans for a 106-room Owen House that will showcase the city’s opulent 1920s heyday in one of Singapore’s most charming and historic neighbourhoods.
Owen House by Hmlet can be found in the trendy Little India district just outside the city centre, next to the Farrer Park MRT station, where visitors can experience a fusion of cultural traditions through the area’s music, cuisine, and art. The inspiration for its art deco style comes from the golden age of New World Amusement Park, which the designers hope to evoke with a nod to the past. The hotel’s 106 rooms, the largest of which is 52 square meters, are designed for both business travellers and vacationers.
Blending with local culture
Sunlight and Moonshine, the hotel’s shared lobby and island bar, serves as the hotel’s beating heart, providing guests with grab-and-go specialty coffee by day and a cozy 1920s-inspired cocktail speakeasy by night. It is public on purpose, so visitors can experience the neighbourhood’s culture firsthand.
Hmlet and Habyt, a German housing network, announced their merger in April of this year. Hmlet’s objective is to “drive a revolution in the living industry, enabling individuals to live effortlessly and flexibly wherever in the world.” This hotel is the first step toward realising that vision by expanding the company’s business model into new markets and living sectors. The merged Habyt organisation, which now includes Owen House, manages over 8,000 rooms in 20 cities throughout the world.
Owen House follows the success of Hmlet’s first serviced apartment, Hmlet Cantonment and add to the Hmlet Boutique Collection.
