It was a whirlwind of activity at ArtScience Museum on 12 April 2018. Dyson swept members of the media off their feet with the launch of its newest innovations- cord-free vacuum Dyson Cyclone V10 and a touch-up of their classic cooling fans, the Dyson Pure Cool.
Dyson has been a leader in the industry of motor research for the past decade, making vast progress and unleashing sleek new developments every now and then. This round of releases is indeed a testament to Dyson’s ability to create technologies useful both powerful and practical, for everyday use in all settings.
Dyson Cyclone V10
The Dyson Cyclone V10 has evolved since the brand’s first digital motor V2 in 2009. For those unfamiliar with Dyson’s cordless vacuums, the V8, its fastest selling to-date, gained popularity for its quiet motor, strong suction and ease of use. Without the fuss of a cord, Dyson’s products make cleaning a simple, even enjoyable task.
Fans of the V8 will be thrilled to learn about the Dyson Cyclone V10 and its swanky new features. Similar to the V8, it is a stick vacuum that works by pointing and shooting at any mess or area you’d like cleaned up. Simply press the “trigger”, and let the machine’s magic do the rest of the work. The cleaning mechanisms are simple, and the parts of the vacuum are detachable – the set comes with a variety of heads for all situations, from hard-to-reach corners, the depths under your bed, and to even mattresses and car seats.
What’s new is most importantly the Dyson digital motor V10 within, close to half the weight of its predecessor in the V8. It is by far Dyson’s fastest working and most power-dense, reaching speeds of 125,000 rpm. With this motor, the cyclones have also been re-fitted and rotated 90 degrees, linearising the airflow path and thus improving the suction of the vacuum.
The Dyson digital motor V10 is surrounded by pre- and post-motor filters, forming a sealed unit that enhances the filtering capacity. Air that passes through the machine is cleared of 99.97% of allergens, releasing clean air back into your apartment.
The improved suctioning and filtering abilities of the Dyson Cyclone V10 make no compromise to its battery life. Engineers also redesigned the battery and management system, making the device more energy-efficient. The device now has up to 60 minutes of suction with a full charge, making sure every inch of the your home (and maybe even the car!) gets a good clean.
Dyson’s strengths have come together in the V10 to bring flawless performance and convenience to users, to be your best friend on dreaded days of household chores.
Dyson Pure Cool
Launched alongside the vacuum is the Dyson Pure Cool, a purifying fan available in both tower and desk formats. Dyson’s keen awareness of our various needs translates into the versatility of their products, so whether or not you need it at your bedside or at the office, they have a solution.
Our indoor lifestyles mean that our airways are exposed to millions of trapped microscopic particles that may not be too good for us. Urban pollution and fine dust can enter through our windows, and form nasty combinations of dirt with all the other stuff indoors – pet dander, indoor paints, aerosolised cleaning sprays and just about everything else. In poorly ventilated rooms with little circulation of air, this multitude of pollutants lingers, waiting to be consumed.
The Dyson Pure Cool takes care of this, cooling your down and keeping your home clean and safe for your family. A total of 75 engineers worked on over 2000 prototypes in the process, creating the final machine: the only purifier that utilises the Air Multiplier™ technology, along with 350⁰ degree oscillation that reaches all parts of the room. The fan contains a new and improved filter that is now taller and deeper, with an added 60% of HEPA media and activated carbon. This means all kinds of gases, invisible fumes and volatile compounds, like benzene, from paint can be absorbed. Air returned to the environment is free of particulate matter, and feels fresher than ever.
What makes owning a Dyson Pure Cool even more exciting is its new LCD display feature, where the fan first senses the particles and gases around it, and shows you the real time values. You can get automatic air quality readings, based on results from its three fitted sensors. The first has lasers for ultra-fine particles, while another detects VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and NO2, while the last makes note of relative humidity and temperature. Even when you’re away from the device, you remain connected via the Dyson Link application. On your mobile, you’re able to track pollution both indoors and outdoors, toggle with your machine, and check on the remaining filter life.
This product is more considerate than ever, and makes the ideal home companion. Before settling in for a good night’s sleep, you can count on the sleep timer that ranges from 15 minutes to even nine whole hours. The Night Mode on the fan also tweaks the settings to a quiet mode and politely dims its LCD display, to give you a sound rest with fresh air. Even on cold days, it gives you the option of diffused airflow, or purification-only mode, which continues cleaning the air, but stops cold wind from blowing towards you.
Simple but effective, these powerful machines make for a comfortable and clean home, done with style. Dyson’s sleek designs are an essential for the modern home, so be sure to keep an eye out for the Dyson Cyclone V10 and Dyson Pure Cool as they enter major departmental and electrical stores in the coming month.
Dyson Pure Cool is priced at S$799 for the desktop model and S$899 to S$949 for the tower model. Prices for the Dyson Cyclone V10 ranges from S$899 to S$1,199.
