Come next year, you may have pay for advance seat selection for your Singapore Airlines flight.
Singapore Airlines and SilkAir are introducing a new airfare structure on 20 January 2018. For Economy Class, there will be three new fare types – namely ‘Lite’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Flexi’.
For Lite fares, passengers will have to pay for advance seat selection, starting at US$5 per flight segment. Currently, advance seat selection is available at no extra charge for all Economy Class bookings.
Bookings under Standard and Flexi fare types remain largely unaffected for seat selection. However, charges will apply for Forward Zone seats – a new category of Standard Fare seats – as well as for Extra Legroom seats. Advance seat booking will also be available at no charge for families with children (12 years old and under) in the same booking.
PPS Club members will enjoy complimentary advance seat selection, regardless of fare type. KrisFlyer Elite Gold members get complimentary selection for Standard and Forward Zone seats while Elite Silver members get for Standard seats.
