I have always been a fan of all types of spa treatments. For a spa junkie like me, a spa treatment is not a luxury but a necessity in life. Whenever I travel, I always find time to visit a spa massage parlour for my daily dose of personal pampering. Who wouldn’t want a nice, therapeutic massage after a hectic day of shopping or a hard day’s work?
Bali is a beloved destination for travellers seeking both physical and spiritual renewal. The proliferation of spas in this vacation paradise means that there’s no short supply of sanctuaries for tourists looking to restore their energy. Being a World Luxury Spa nominee in 2016, the Shine Spa is known for their relaxing atmosphere and award-winning services. Located at the coastline of Kuta, Bali, Sheraton Bali Kuta resort, it is a highly recommended place for rest and rejuvenation after a full day packed with activities.
Upon entering the spa, I was warmly welcomed with an offer of a cold towel to cool myself down before being served with a cup of ginger tea. The cooling effects of the ginger tea and the tranquil vibe of the spa immediately put me in a meditative mood. I noticed their shelves were filled with award-winning products, but what captured my attention the most was a Switzerland wax product, one that the spa claimed will provide the body with physical and mental relaxation. Filled with curiosity about its efficacy and some slight apprehension about wax burns, I decided to give their signature treatment a try (prices start from IDR460,000/S$45 for 50 minutes).
I was given a soft fluffy robe to change into as my therapist prepared for my treatment. Shine’s restroom was as plush and peaceful as the rest of the spa’s amenities. The shower rooms came equipped with lotions to hydrate your skin and also a locker to safeguard your valuables while you indulge in your treatment of choice.
My Shine massage began with a quick wash down of all the bacteria on my legs with eucalyptus salts which are known for its curative qualities of easing stiff muscles and reducing pain. It was not pain and there were not wax burnts. Theraphy was soothing and the wax used was unique in a way where it emphasized every stroke and pressure. It will definitely make one feel calmed and relaxed.
For a luxurious 5-star hotel spa, the prices are very affordable. I decided to go for a second round of treatment. This time, I decided to try something new by opting for a facial treatment (IDR950,000 or S$94 for 60 minutes). As this was my first time trying a facial, I was taken aback by the cool and minty feeling of the treatment on my face. The skincare facial therapy is formulated to defend the skin against environmental stress to reduce any signs of aging. The ingredients help restore the skin’s cellular function, enhancing its defensive mechanism against skin aging. My skin was definitely glowing and invigorated after the therapy. What amazed me even more was how soft my skin was after the treatment.
I felt truly rejuvenated after my session at Shine Spa. It was such a much-needed treat for my body and soul that I was left wanting more.
