Mission Foods Singapore, one of our favourite household brands for tortilla wraps, has come up with a new initiative called #The21DayMission challenge. Set to go live on 9 May, #The21DayMission challenge is a customised fitness programme aimed at educating the public about healthy eating and exercise in response to the rising obesity rates in Singapore. This new fitness programme also enlists the expertise of Dave Nuku, who is one of the main trainers on The Biggest Loser Asia TV series, alongside Alexandra Prabaharan, a renowned nutritionist.
In the wake of rising obesity rates among children and young adults, it has become even more pivotal to educate individuals about the health repercussions of unhealthy eating. A study by the National University of Singapore has shown that young working adults continue to eat as much as before or even more, after they enter the workforce, despite being less physically active. Besides that, there is a high tendency for obese children to remain in obesity as they enter into adulthood. These result in a wide spectrum of preventable health ramifications, which could be rectified with a healthy lifestyle incorporating regular exercise and nutritious meals.
The alarming obesity rates in Singapore and research that shows 21 days being essential to creating a lifelong habit both serve as the impetus for this fitness challenge. In line with these, Mission Foods Singapore introduces #The21DayMission, which demonstrates how keeping fit and eating healthily can be easily done with a correct meal plan and fitness guidance.
This programme is set to go live on 9 May 2016 and provides subscribers with their daily scoop of fitness and recipe videos. The links to the videos and meal plan would be sent in advance to prepare the subscribers for their 21-Day Mission. Moreover, the subscription to these invaluable information is absolutely free and can be done easily through the Mission Foods Singapore Facebook site.
I tried my hands at one of the recipes offered under the programme – Tom Yam Chicken Wrap – and I absolutely loved it. Unlike the plain old salad associated with healthy eating, there was no lack of flavour in this wrap with the herb and spices being used. I relished every single bite of the dish, which proves that taste does not need to be compromised in healthy meals. This is certainly good news since healthy eating is such an integral part of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. More importantly, we tend to fall off the bandwagon of healthy eating when the taste of food is compromised.
For those who have made healthy lifestyle one of their resolutions but has yet to get down to it (like me), the start to a potentially life-changing 21-day mission is simply a click away. So what are you waiting for? I’m all set for this challenge!
