Earlier this month, Madame Tussauds Singapore unveiled the wax figure of Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi. Following the launch, Modi now joins the ranks of other contemporary world leaders at Madame Tussauds Singapore, including Mahatma Gandhi, Lee Kuan Yew, Chairman Mao, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth II.
Modi, the head of government of the world’s fastest growing economy, was personally involved in the creation of his wax figure, participating in a sitting session at his residence in New Delhi earlier in the year. Modi’s figure is dressed in his signature Kurta in cream with jacket and he is featured in a traditional pose making a namaste gesture. Each figure took a team of talented artists four months and cost approximately $300,000 to create. Apart from Madame Tussauds Singapore, the wax figures of Modi will also be unveiled across Madame Tussauds attractions in London, Hong Kong, and Bangkok this month.
Testament to his popularity, Prime Minister Modi is currently the second most followed politician on Twitter, second only to President Obama. Modi also made it to the top ten of Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2015.
“We’re delighted that Prime Minister Modi will be joining a royal cast of world leaders at Madame Tussauds Singapore,” remarked Craig Connor, General Manager, Madame Tussauds Singapore.
Founded in London in 1835, Madame Tussauds boast over 200 years of expertise in making wax figures. Apart from political figures, Madame Tussauds Singapore lets you rub shoulders with your favourite celebrities, from sporting heroes to musicians and royalties to movie stars.
