What I really liked about Spa Rael is how meticulous the staff are. Before your treatment, you will be asked to fill in a personalised form. This form will inform your therapist which particular areas of your body you would like more focus on, be it your tense shoulders or tired feet. What’s more, if you are afraid of pain, you can even indicate the intensity that you would like your therapist to apply during your treatment.
Hoping for something relaxing and relieving, my companion and I decided to go for the Holistic Ginger Remedy (usual price: S$374.50. One-for-one deal with Entertainer app). This 90-minute massage promises to relieve all of your accumulated muscular tension and stress instantaneously, perfect for someone who is easily stressed like me. As the name suggests, the treatment makes use of ginger, which is known as an anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic aid for musculoskeletal pain.
The therapy room was really spacious and looked out to lush greenery. During the treatment, the therapist rubbed my body with a holistic ginger pack filled with ginger and other meticulously selected herbs, as inspired by traditional Chinese medicine. While the pack felt slightly hot to my skin, I could feel all the tension in my muscles slowly easing away. It was so comfortable that I went into a gentle slumber during my treatment.
It felt all too soon when the treatment ended. The therapist advised me not to shower for at least four to five hours so as to allow my body to absorb the essence and benefits of the remedy pack. I have no complaints — the ginger does not leave an oily or uncomfortable feeling on my skin. In fact, I enjoyed the after-effects of the spa – the ginger remedy left my skin feeling more renewed and fresher.
The hot ginger tea provided at the end of the treatment capped off a wonderful and relaxing day for me.
