WWF-organised Earth Hour returns this weekend, on Saturday, 19 March. The movement was started in Sydney, Australia back in 2007 during a lights-off event. Since then, every year in March, countries around the world, including businesses, engage in this tangible effort to conserve and embrace communities.
Park Regis Singapore, a contemporary business hotel located in the CBD, will be switching off to pledge its support for Earth Hour, from 8:30pm to 9:30 pm, will be turning off non-essential lights and taking on some energy-saving measures. These include switched off lights at the hotel facade, both the logo and the decorative parts, driveway, interior mood, in the gymnasium and function room if unoccupied.
Having the hotel switches off most of the lights does not mean in-house guests or visitors will have a dull time. Take part by switching off the lights in the guestrooms and yes, that includes taking a breather and avoid charging your smartphones. Instead, take advantage from Twenty3 Drink & Dine’s special commemorative cocktail at $8.30++ per glass from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
“Participating in Earth Hour since the hotel opened its doors in 2010 is part of Park Regis Singapore’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. We take on the responsibility to build our sustainability knowledge and look forward to further promoting green consciousness and reducing energy consumption to do our part for Mother Earth,” says Jack Chua, General Manager.
The hotel is strategically located in the heart of Singapore’s main entertainment district, alongside the Singapore River, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. This simply means, when the Earth Hour finishes, you have plenty of options to entertain yourself, in and out of the hotel. It’s weekend after all.
