It has eluded him time and time again, but Leonardo DiCaprio has finally broken the Oscar curse and won the Academy Award for Best work for his role in the move The Revenant after five acting nominations and one nomination for producer of Best Picture.
After an extended applause from the crowd, DiCaprio extended words of gratitude to fellow nominees, the cast and crew of The Revenant, as well as past collaborators such as Martin Scorcese.
Other nominees for the Best Actor category include Bryan Cranston for Trumbo, Matt Damon for The Martian, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs, and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl.
