Dazzling Café, with its well-known honey toasts, was a place I often heard my friends talking about, and I even chanced upon one of its outlets while shopping in Hong Kong. When I was invited to the launch of their ‘Dazzling Café x Sweety Tweety’ event, I was undoubtedly excited to see what they had in store and whether the dishes truly lived up to their hype.
On 14 December, Dazzling Café unveiled their official collaboration with Warner Brothers in an eventful programme that marked the arrival of the sweet Tweety Bird in the heart of Singapore.
As a kid, I fondly remember being glued to the TV screen, watching Looney Tunes cartoons. No episode would be complete without the adorable yellow canary, Tweety Bird, and the iconic “I taut I taw a puddy tat”. The collaboration truly brought back some memories of Tweety’s cheeky and fun antics, and the atmosphere of the Café surely helped.
Decked out in Tweety decorations, Dazzling Café hosted Mediacorp star Shane Pow as he interacted with Tweety. The highlight of the event was when the café’s chef held an interactive workshop to demonstrate how he prepared the signature toast, but with a twist: The Tweety Lava Toast. As he added the mango puree whipped cream and topped it off with a generous scoop of ice cream and fruits, it made us all the more excited to taste the menu.

The event was fun and spirited, much like the personality of Tweety, as guests took part in trivia quizzes and a competition with Shane himself to prepare the best Lava Toast. Tweety himself selected the winner and the winners walked away with adorable Tweety plushies!

Finally, the time came for the Tweety menu to be served.
We were lucky enough to try the two special drinks on the menu, the Tweety Sweet Valentine, and the Tweety Mocha Slushie. The Tweety Sweet Valentine was a refreshing start, with fresh strawberry bits to finish off the lovely fruity taste of the drink.
As a chocolate lover, the Tweety Mocha Slushie was a definite favourite. Despite the two shots of double espresso, the chocolate flakes and chocolate syrup sweetened up the ice-cold blend. The crushed ice gave the drink a perfect texture, and made an ideal drink with the perfect daily dose of chocolate for me.

My next favourite was the Tweety Mac and Cheese Indulgence. For a start, I usually stay away from mac and cheese dishes; too much cheese becomes nauseating after a while. However, the Tweety Mac and Cheese Indulgence at Dazzling Cafe came as a surprise. Within the dish itself there are four types of cheeses: elementa, gruyere, mozzarella, and crispy pieces of parmesan to top it off. Instead of an overly cheesy taste that puts diners off, this dish instead had a wonderful blend of the different cheeses, creating a rich taste that is hard to forget.

At last, it was time to try the Tweety Lava Toast, which arrived embellished with a cute Tweety design at the side. As mentioned earlier, the toast is a sweet combination of the mango whipped cream and ice cream. But here’s the highlight: once you cut the toast open, the warm lava chocolate begins to ooze out, a heaven for the sweet tooth when combined with the vanilla ice cream. The toast itself is very crispy on the outside, in contrast with the soft chocolatey goodness on the inside. It turns out the café does indeed live up to its reputation for good toast.

In all, the specially crafted menu was indeed cute and fun, a new dining experience I would love to relive again. This collaboration will be around for the next two months and you can look forward to checking it out for yourself until Valentine’s Day 2016. Dazzling Café has also come up with more trendy and eye-catching Tweety merchandise like drinking glasses and umbrellas that all Tweety lovers should not miss out on.
While the cafe’s selection may be slightly pricey for the portion served, I would recommend that you gather a few friends to chip in for all of you to try the variety of Tweety delights instead.
With Dazzling Café expanding, we can look forward to another of their outlets in the first quarter of next year. You can be sure they have more sweet treats in store for us.
