Napapijri’s Fall/Winter Collection for the Style-Conscious Traveller

Made to withstand the roughest of travels and the toughest of treks, Napapijri’s 2015 Fall/Winter Collection is quite the lifesaver for any wanderlusting traveller looking to conquer the wintry season.

If you have not heard yet, international male and female fashion label Napapijri (pronounced as ‘Na-Pa-Pi-Ri’) landed in Singapore earlier this year and parked itself at the new Capitol Piazza, a befitting place to call home for this equally upscale outdoor apparel trendsetter.

A brand targeted at active travellers, Napapijri prides itself on its ability to marry functionality with style through its innovative use of material and acute attention to detail, and its Fall/Winter collection is the epitome of fashionable winter-wear.

For most, cold seasons suggest hideous and bulky wool jackets over layers of stuffy thermal wear. Napapijri’s latest line debunks that imagery, to bring an eclectic mix of patterns, styles and light textiles reminiscent of Irish Clubs and Lumberjacks, ensuring the avid traveller stays toasted in style.

Drawing inspiration from Irish Clubs and Lumberjack uniforms seems almost too random a combination, but one that is surprisingly coherent in colour palate with hues of blue, brown and green to shades of grey, red and orange across collegiate style and check prints.

The women’s collection boasts familiar Irish Tartan fabrics with classic motifs of wool varsity jackets and ties, on winter staples of the urban wardrobe such as trench coats, field-jackets and parkas. On the other hand, its Lumberjack-themed range comes in check macro print on coats and jackets, and in micro print version on shirts. Hints of zigzag print are also spotted on the knitwear.

The dominantly male brand ventures out of the norm to bring an innovative series of combined surface garments like quilted nylon with wool and jacquard knits, reminiscent of the quirky mismatched bottle labels of Irish Clubs around the world. And as with the detail-oriented brand, camouflage, checks, houndstooth and the iconic Napapijri flag are little details adopted to enhance the out and inside finishes of the outfits.
