When it comes to weekend, I like to take it slow. Gather a few friends, enjoy some delicious food (and possibly over a few drinks) and laze the Sunday away. That is my definition of happiness. It is not easy to find a place that makes me feel comfortable, great ambience, and most importantly makes my tummy happy. And UNA gets the tick.
Located at the quiet enclave of Rochester Park, UNA offers both indoor and alfresco dinning. Though their Sunday brunch buffet is not the most extensive, each dish hits the mark.
My first stop was the salad bar where it featured five different salads. Among them, my favourite had to be the cucumber with watermelon and mint. It was light and refreshing, and whet my appetite for more deliciousness.
Not caring about my cholesterol level, I dived in and went for the eggs benedict and Spanish baked eggs. The eggs benedict was UNA’s signature dish and a tad different from the traditional version. At UNA, they served their eggs benedict on flat bread, and to give the dish that smokiness, smoked mackerel and bonito flakes were added. For the Spanish baked eggs, they have kick. The spicy tomato sauce and pequillo peppers left my tongue burning and yet made me crave for more.
At UNA, seafood and grilled meats were equally popular. I was bedazzled by the variety of seafood that was offered – oysters, clams, red prawns, crabs and many more. I had to practise some self-control to make sure I do not miss the grill station. I adored the smoked quails, and chicken wings with mojo picon. They were cooked to perfection, and were finger-licking good.
Like most people, I have a separate stomach for dessert. The panna cotta, banoffee pie and bitter chocolate mousse were all calling me. Every bite was sweet and delightful.
My Sunday was complete at UNA.
The Sunday Brunch at UNA is available from 11 am to 3 pm. (Only from 14 June to 6 September 2015)
