Singer Jon Bon Jovi is known for belting out metal rock songs.
However, last week on 19 August, Jon Bon Jovi recorded a cover of the classic romantic ballad “月亮代表我的心” (The Moon Represents My Heart) by late Chinese singer Teresa Teng as a surprise for Qixi, or Chinese Valentine’s Day. Usually, Caucasians would mangle the pronunciations of Chinese words. However, from the recording, you can hear that Bon Jovi made tremendous effort to ensure that the words are pronounced correctly and with a clear diction. While he did not enunciate every word perfectly, his effort was worth 100 marks for sure. His take on the classic in his signature husky voice was steeped in emotion.
Now, let’s have Jon Bon Jovi serenade you with his amazing rendition of the song:
Bon Jovi will be performing live in China at Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena on 14 Sep 2015. Tickets can be purchased online via damai.cn and smartshanghai.com. Bon Jovi will also have two back-to-back performances in Macao on 25 and 26 Sep at Cotai Arena, The Venetian Macao.
