Into its eighth year, the Singapore Night Festival is here again to light up the Bras Basah–Bugis precinct for the next two weekends. As with most events this year where we celebrate the nation’s golden jubilee, the Singapore Night Festival is also pulling out all stops with a spectacular line-up of world-class entertainment presented by Singaporeans, foreign artists and performers with the theme of “Glitz and Glamour”.
There will be over 100 performances and light art installations by more than 30 local acts. We help you shortlist some of the must-sees of this year’s festival:
1. THE ANOOKI CELEBRATE SINGAPORE, Façade of National Museum
The Anookit Celebrate Singapore is an anchor piece for diverse light art installations under Night Lights. Keep a lookout for the appearance of the world’s smallest and beloved Inuits – Anoo and Nooki – in a specially-created façade projection by French graphic designers David Passegand and Moetu Batlle for the festival and Singapore’s Golden Jubilee. Be amused by the characters running amok all over the façade of the National Museum, and enthralling audiences into dancing and singing along with their captivating tunes.
When: 7:30pm to 2:00am, 21, 22, 28 and 29 August; 7:30pm to 11:00pm, 23 to 27 August
2. THE GARDEN OF FIRE & LIGHT, Front Lawn of Singapore Art Museum
Against the dramatic façade of the Singapore Art Museum, Starlight Alchemy combines their distinct storytelling voice and multi-disciplinary flow arts style to present an exciting new work in a simple tale of two elemental beings that discover each other. Using a variety of large aerial custom-made fire props and LED technology, Singapore’s premier fire and light performance artist group will take the audience through a mesmerising and heart-pumping journey filled with thrills, stunts and fire tricks.
