Computer accessories are usually designed to be functional but once in a while something nifty comes onto the market. Enter the Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard, a full-size keyboard that is super lightweight, slim and compact which makes you want to take it anywhere with you.
When folded, the keyboard measures only 5.8 inch by 4.9 inch and is 0.45 inch thick. It fits easily in small handbags and even some back pockets.
This foldable wireless keyboard is well-designed and is a workhorse. To switch it on, simply unfold it and you can start pairing immediately. You can connect two devices and toggle between them just by a touch of a key. It is compatible with Windows tablet and phones, the iPhone, the iPad and Android devices.
The keyboard was scheduled to launch sometime in August but has hit the stores early. I got my hands on a set and was able to road-test it. The keys bounce back nicely and feel very similar to the keyboard of a Macbook Air. You can place it on your lap and it’ll work like a laptop.
The keyboard is spill-resistant and supports devices running any of these operating systems:
– Android 4.3-5.0
– Apple iOS 7-8.1
– Windos 8, 8.1
– Windows Phone 8.1, Update 2
Tablets and smartphones must be Bluetooth 4.0 enabled and devices must have Human Interface Device (HID) keyboard support. The specifications indicate the battery can last for 3 months on a single charge. It comes with a micro USB cable for charging.
The Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard retails for US$99.95 and SG$139 online and in-store.
