Convenient. Spot on. These words came to mind as what I felt during my short transit at Singapore Changi Airport. I fly to Singapore almost every year, for business or leisure, or whenever a friend of mine decides that that particular year is a good time to have babies. And every single time the travelling experience gets better, to say the least.
This trip was purposely arranged to transit in Singapore as my final destination was actually Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I arrived at Singapore past midnight, thanks to a technical delay on my flight in Bali. I only had several hours to rest. Changi Recommends comes in so handy as they offer the best assistance a traveller can get at the airport. Travellers in the now need mobility, comfort and connectivity. And Changi Recommends provides those and beyond.
I was warmly greeted by a lady assistant. Note that it was 2 am, definitely not the busiest hours of the day. I collected my routers (both for use in Singapore and Taiwan). As if my excitement upon receiving the ‘life support’ was not visible enough, the lady handed gifts, some very thoughtful souvenirs, not only to decorate my house, but also serve as daily reminder of everything good about transiting at Singapore.
I was not looking for attraction passes at the time, but it is essential to know that the counter can help you with that as well. The extra hand includes last minute air tickets and accommodation assistance, either at the airport or in town. Since I was in between flights for a few hours only, I decided to check out the transit lounge which provides traveller’s essentials such as free internet, convenient couch, charging station and nearby food stalls. Just what I needed.
My Taiwan working trip went without a single disruption in terms of connectivity, except when the router ran out of battery. I was beyond happy to be able to post my photos on Instagram and stay in touch with my folks back home.
Singapore Changi Airport was introduced decades ago in 1981 and now it serves up to 54.1 million passengers yearly from all over the world. Given its position and the airlines flying in and out, one can imagine the multiple routes served by all three terminals, including stopovers and transits.
If you are one of those travellers crossing over Singapore, one of our best recommendations is to head over to one of Changi Recommends counter, conveniently located at every terminal. Or better still, book your Wi-Fi router in advance by visiting www.changirecommends.com and reserve this travel essential at least three business days in advance from as low as S$12 per day (the router is good for up to six devices).
If you are flying in to Singapore and need Wi-Fi router while strolling the country, it will only set you back S$10 per day. Read more about how our editor couldn’t move away too far from this router during her trip to Japan here.
