Where Skin Science Meets Stillness: A Facial Experience at SSKINS Medispa

When SSKINS Medispa opened its doors at the Tanglin Post Office Building as the first SkinCeuticals medispa flagship in Singapore in October this year, it positioned itself as something more thoughtful than a typical aesthetics clinic. Founded by dermatologist Dr Angeline Yong, the space was conceived as a meeting point between medical science and hospitality, where results-driven treatments are delivered in an environment designed to soothe rather than intimidate. The collaboration with SkinCeuticals, a brand long respected for its science-backed formulations, further underscored SSKINS’ commitment to skin health over fleeting trends.

That philosophy of Skin Science, Kin Connection felt particularly relevant as I went in for the Alma Timeless Pro facial. In a beauty landscape increasingly dominated by high-powered machines and quick-fix promises, I have grown selective about the facials I agree to try. I gravitate towards treatments that begin with observation rather than assumption, involve skilled hands, and use technology as an enhancement rather than a replacement for proper technique. On paper, SSKINS appeared to strike that balance.

Finding the place was harder than expected, and I spent more time than I would have liked locating the entrance. It is a small but notable detail, especially for a medispa that positions itself as a sanctuary. It didn’t help that Tanglin Post Office Building was undergoing some major renovation. Fortunately, once I found SSKINS, that initial frustration quickly dissipated.

Service was warm, professional and reassuringly unhurried. Before any treatment commenced, a skin analysis was conducted to assess my current skin condition and concerns. This step is essential for me. A facial should never feel generic, and the consultation immediately set the tone that this would be a tailored experience rather than a fixed protocol. The SSKINS consultant took note that I had a recent radio-frequency facial treatment and decided not to include dermaplaning for fear of irritating my skin.

I was also pleased to see SkinCeuticals products being used throughout the treatment. I am already a long-time fan of the brand, having incorporated their popular Vitamin C serums into my own routine over the years. SkinCeuticals’ evidence-based approach and proven actives give me confidence, and knowing that the facial was anchored by products I trust added an extra layer of reassurance.

The Alma Timeless Pro facial itself unfolded at an unhurried, considered pace. It began with a proper double cleanse, which immediately signalled that this was a treatment grounded in fundamentals rather than shortcuts. This was followed by a careful extraction process, something I genuinely appreciated. I am not particularly fond of facials that rush straight to machines while neglecting congestion, and here the extractions were done thoroughly yet gently, without leaving my skin red or sensitised.

Once the skin was properly prepped, an oxygen spray infused with SkinCeuticals’ Phyto Corrective was applied. The cooling mist was instantly comforting and helped reset the skin before the next stage.

This flowed naturally into a face massage, which further softened the experience and eased any remaining tension. At this point, the treatment had already reached a deeply relaxing rhythm, one that felt as restorative as it was corrective. Only then did the Alma device come into play, using the NIR (near-infrared) mode to gently warm the deeper layers of the skin. The sensation was surprisingly comfortable, with none of the sharp heat or discomfort sometimes associated with energy-based treatments. Instead, it felt controlled and reassuring, supporting skin rejuvenation without overwhelming it.

The facial concluded with a SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Masque, which sealed everything in and left my skin feeling calm, hydrated and balanced. Somewhere between the massage and the final mask, I fell asleep, a rarity for me during facials and perhaps the clearest indication of how relaxing the experience truly was.

Post-facial, my skin felt calm, hydrated and balanced. There was none of the tightness or sensitivity that can sometimes follow machine-heavy treatments. Instead, my complexion looked refreshed and quietly refined, as though my skin had been reset rather than pushed.

The Alma Timeless Pro facial at SSKINS is not a treatment that seeks to impress through theatrics. Its strength lies in its restraint. Thoughtful consultation, credible products, skilled hands and technology used with purpose rather than excess.  For those who appreciate results but also value relaxation, and for anyone who prefers facials that honour both science and touch, this is a treatment worth considering.
