CIMB Bank Launches Pet Insurance in Singapore

CIMB Bank Berhad, Singapore Branch (“CIMB”) is the first bank in Singapore to launch pet insurance for domestic dogs and cats, with insurance plans, starting from S$74.90^ a year. Best part? No medical check-up will be required, the CIMB My Paw Pal insurance coverage will be almost immediately be activated upon submission of your pet’s microchip ID.

CIMB Bank partnered up with Sompo Insurance Singapore Pte Ltd to come up with the CIMB My Paw Pal Insurance because they wanted to “help owners provide the best treatment and care for their pets during these difficult times”, according to Ms Josandi Thor, Head of Consumer Banking, CIMB.

My Paw Pal comprises a basic plan and two optional covers. The basic plan protects offers protection for pets, including coverage from accidental death, medical expenses and cremation or burial expenses due to an accident, and third-party liability. Meanwhile, the optional covers include loss of dog due to theft, as well as medical expenses and cremation or burial expenses due to illness.

However, in order to be eligible for the coverage, the pet has to be microchipped and between 12 weeks to seven years old. Pet owners who wish to purchase the insurance plans for their pet dogs have to ensure that their canines are registered with AVA as well. Selected dog breeds are also not eligible for the insurance plan.
