Stay and Shop at St Giles The Gardens Hotel

Convenience. That’s the number one thing I always consider when looking for a staycation. And, recently I had a short getaway at St Giles The Gardens Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It is only a few minutes’ ride away from my apartment. It couldn’t get any more convenient for me.

Affable hotel staff greeted me the moment I stepped into the hotel. I was welcomed with smiles by the receptionist who assisted me with my check-in, which was swift and easy.

I checked in at a Deluxe Room, which looked very snazzy. The bed was huge and comfy. What’s more, the hotel offered a pillow menu. But my favorite part of the room was the cozy chair beside the big window overlooking the city, where I had a relaxing time reading the book I brought with me.

I appreciate the fact that there was good utilization of space in the room. Each section was separated by glass, which was perfect for me because I was able to move freely inside without bumping into things.

After settling in, I decided to do more of my reading in the pool area and made my way out to the fifth floor. I passed by the gym area and took a quick look inside. Their gym was so huge and spacious that I think I could do cartwheels in there!

I eventually reached the pool area, which overlooked the city. The hotel has two pools, a small-round kiddie pool and an adult pool. I settled down nicely with a book and was able to even to order a latte from the pool bar. That was certainly convenient for me, without me having to venture too far to get a drink.

Lunch was an affair at their restaurant called “The Spread”. The friendly restaurant manager showed me their weekday buffet lunch, which is open every weekdays from 12pm to 2.30 pm. I was even told there’s an Open Ice Cream Bar, which is one of the restaurant’s highlights.

Later that afternoon, I felt like taking a stroll, so I headed down back to the lobby. There’s an exit there which immediately took me to the shopping mall next to the hotel. Yes, the hotel is directly connected to The Gardens Mall and beside Midvalley Mall. For those who love shopping, this is really convenient.

If you are looking to chill out, you can head to the “Lobby Bar”, which is located within the hotel’s lobby itself. It’s a posh lounge with cushy seats. I took advantage of their Mini Finger Sandwiches promo, which includes fries and softdrinks for RM45.

I got a friend to come over and hang out with me at the Lobby Bar. We tried their “Tea for Two” promo while catching up. It consisted of two cups of coffee or tea and a tower of little sweet treats and mini sandwiches, good for two people and it costs only RM 48 nett.

After the day’s activities, I felt really lazy to head out for dinner, so I decided to call for room service, which is open 24 hours daily. I ordered a steak, lasagna and chicken cordon bleu. My orders arrived in my room in just 30 minutes and I was very amused watching the staff set up the portable table in front of me. Pardon me, but this was my first time ordering room service.

Suffice to say,I was revived and relaxed at the end of short getaway – one that allowed me to stay and shop at the same time. For a girl, what more can I ask for?
