Pacific Express Hotel – a Simple Stay in Downtown Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur (KL) is an exciting city packed with historical monuments, shopping malls and the famous Petronas Twin Towers – there is never a dull moment. To prepare myself for all these excitement, I know I need to find a hotel that is conveniently located and allowed me to have a restful stay yet not burn a hole in my wallet.

Pacific Express Hotel is a fuss-free hotel located in downtown KL. It is a stone’s throw away from the Central Market. It is also situated near some of the city’s historical spots like Masjid India, Chinatown, and Petaling Street. And finding the hotel is not a difficult task – it is accessible via two train stations – Masjid Jamel and Pasar Seni.

When I checked in, the hotel’s receptionist was warm and friendly, making the whole process hassle-free.

I had the superior room which came with the standard amenities such as TV, work desk, and a mini-bar. The room was cosy which was comfortable for a single person.  There was even a safe deposit box for me to keep my valuables.

Though there was no bathtub, the shower area was spacious and complete with toiletries and a hair dryer.

I didn’t usually like to have my bags strewn around the room, so I was happy to find a cabinet where I could keep my belongings.

After settling in, I went up to the ninth floor to check out the pool area. The pool has a good view of downtown KL. Fitness buffs would be glad to know there is a properly equipped gym in the hotel for guests too.

Right below the hotel is a convenient store and a small café called Uncle Lim. At Uncle Lim, they served affordable Malaysian’s style mamak meals for hungry hotel guests. The hotel accommodation does not come with free breakfast, but for an additional RM25 per person, you get to enjoy a simple breakfast with choices ranging from Western breakfast items like eggs and sausages to local delights such as mee goreng, roti canai and nasi lemak.
