BYD has expanded its Singapore line-up with the official launch of the new BYD Seal 6 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid model that brings the brand’s Super DM-i technology to local drivers in both sedan and Touring body styles.
Launched in Singapore on 7 May 2026, the Seal 6 DM-i marks another step in BYD’s growing presence in the local automotive market. The new model is available in three variants: the Seal 6 DM-i Dynamic sedan, Seal 6 DM-i Premium sedan and Seal 6 DM-i Touring. Designed to offer a blend of electric-first driving, long-distance flexibility and everyday practicality, the Seal 6 DM-i is aimed at drivers who want the benefits of electrification without the range concerns that may come with a fully electric vehicle.
The launch also comes at a time when BYD continues to build strong momentum both globally and in Singapore. The brand has delivered more than 16.1 million new energy vehicles worldwide to date, with over one million vehicle sales achieved in just over a single quarter. In April 2026 alone, BYD recorded more than 312,000 vehicle sales globally, including over 134,000 overseas sales. In Singapore, BYD has also maintained its leadership position, achieving 26 consecutive months as the top AMD sales brand and 17 consecutive months as the number one car brand across all categories. It currently holds a 26.3 per cent market share in Singapore based on AMD sales.
“The introduction of the Seal 6 DM-i represents an important step in BYD’s journey in Singapore,” said James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore and President of BYD Philippines. “As Singapore’s number one car brand, we are focused on offering products that combine efficiency, practicality and advanced technology. The Seal 6 DM-i delivers exactly that, giving drivers the benefits of electric driving without compromising flexibility for longer journeys.”

At the heart of the Seal 6 DM-i is BYD’s Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system. DM-i stands for Dual Mode – Intelligent, and the technology is designed to prioritise electric driving in everyday use while allowing petrol power to step in when needed. The system combines a high-efficiency 1.5-litre petrol engine, a responsive electric motor and BYD’s LFP Blade Battery, which is known for its durability, safety and long service life.
In practical terms, this means the Seal 6 DM-i can behave much like an electric vehicle on shorter city journeys, offering quiet and responsive driving with zero tailpipe emissions when operating in electric mode. For longer journeys, the petrol engine and hybrid system work together to extend range and reduce the need for frequent charging stops.
The result is an impressive combined driving range of up to 1,300km for the Premium variant, and up to 1,400km for the Dynamic and Touring variants. For Singapore drivers who mainly commute within the city but occasionally travel longer distances, this gives the Seal 6 DM-i a useful balance between electric efficiency and traditional refuelling convenience.
Design-wise, the Seal 6 DM-i adopts BYD’s Ocean-inspired design language, with flowing lines, sculpted surfaces and a clean, contemporary profile. The sedan features a sleek fastback silhouette that helps with airflow management, while the Touring version adds a longer rear profile for greater practicality without losing visual balance.
The Touring variant is also fitted with purpose-led features such as roof rails, a hands-free power tailgate and a dedicated rear wiper. These make it especially suitable for families, drivers with active lifestyles or those who simply require more cargo space.
Both body styles feature crystal-inspired LED headlights with a distinctive Double-L light signature, as well as layered LED rear lighting that gives the car a modern, high-tech identity on the road.

Inside, the Seal 6 DM-i offers a spacious and refined cabin designed around comfort and usability. A wraparound interior layout helps create a sense of openness, while soft-touch materials and carefully considered finishes add to the premium feel. The cabin also features ergonomic seating, generous rear passenger space, a panoramic sunroof and a modern digital cockpit anchored by a large infotainment display.

“With the Seal 6 DM-i, we focused on creating a car that fits naturally into the daily lives of Singapore drivers,” said Adelene Tan, Managing Director, Vantage Automotive Limited. “From the spacious interior and intuitive technology to the choice between sedan and Touring body styles, the Seal 6 DM-i is designed to deliver comfort, flexibility and confidence for a wide range of customer needs.”
Practicality is one of the key selling points of the range. The Seal 6 DM-i sedan offers a rear boot capacity of 491 litres, measured up to the height of the rear seat headrests. This can be expanded to 1,370 litres when the rear seats are folded down. The Seal 6 DM-i Touring offers even more space, with 670 litres of rear boot capacity measured up to the head lining, expanding to 1,535 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.
On the road, the Seal 6 DM-i has been engineered for comfort and real-world usability. Its electric-first power delivery provides smooth acceleration from standstill, while the hybrid system offers linear performance at higher speeds. The chassis and suspension have been tuned to balance comfort and stability, making it suitable for city streets as well as expressway driving.
The model also comes equipped with an advanced 12-volt LFP low-voltage battery, replacing the traditional lead-acid battery found in many conventional vehicles. This battery is designed to deliver long-lasting performance, require no routine maintenance and offer a lower total cost of ownership over the vehicle’s lifespan.
In Singapore, launch prices for the Seal 6 DM-i range start from S$191,888 for the Dynamic variant. The Seal 6 DM-i Touring is priced from S$195,888, while the Seal 6 DM-i Premium is priced from S$199,888. All prices include S$8,000 worth of ownership benefits.
With its mix of electric-first driving, long combined range, generous cabin space and the choice of sedan or Touring body styles, the BYD Seal 6 DM-i adds a versatile new option to Singapore’s growing electrified vehicle market. It also strengthens BYD’s local portfolio at a time when more drivers are looking for vehicles that combine efficiency, practicality and lower-emission mobility.
The BYD Seal 6 DM-i and Seal 6 DM-i Touring are now available for viewing and test drives at all BYD showrooms in Singapore.
