Empowering Visions Galore at vOilah! France Singapore Festival 2022

Feed your spirits with much needed inspirations by experiencing the return of vOilah! France and Singapore Festival 2022. This annual festival halted momentarily by the global pandemic is organized by the embassies of Singapore and France. With a theme of “Inspiration”, this year’s festival will run from 26 October to 27 November 2022.

The Opera People

A curated set of compelling displays and experiences promises to spark inspiration and enlighten minds and souls among the attendees, all the while strengthening and expanding the thriving partnership between the two countries in a variety of fields of creativity.

Exhibits, concerts, multimedia installations, film and photography festivals, sports events, educational lectures, and the largest French food market to be presented in Singapore are just some of the events that will be presented by the more than 120 organisations, artists, and thought leaders from France and Singapore who have come together to create this exciting and rich lineup of programs.

French Ambassador to Singapore Minh Di-Tang points out to the festival as the best barometer of France-Singapore’s partnership in culture, education, lifestyle and science.

The festival will also serve as a global platform to promote local artists such as Boo Junfeng, whose films have screened at the Cannes Film Festival. He says about the festival, “I am honoured to be the Patron for vOilah! France Singapore Festival 2022. France has always been a place of inspiration in my journey as a filmmaker”

vOilah! opens with a jazzy tune at the park

Experience a taste of distinctively French culture at Jazz Au Jardin, a jazz music festival set in the heart of the Botanic Gardens. A roster of Singaporean and French musicians will belt out a slew of well-loved jazz classics. This enchanting performance will officially mark the opening of vOilah! 2022 on October 29. Amble along tree-lined paths in the park on the fringe of the bustling city or have a picnic on the rolling green fields along the lake, while taking in the strains of lively jazz music.

Well-known jazz songs, such as “Invitation,” “Have You Met Ms. Jones,” and “Autumn Leaves,” will be performed by Singapore’s Swing King Jeremy Monteiro, the JASSO Ensemble, and Singapore’s jazz Godfather Louis Soliano. Talented French saxophonist Samy Thiébault will be leading his Quartet in an emotional performance of his latest album, “Awé!”, which is a synthesis of Caribbean tales, Indian inspirations, and a never-endingly rejuvenated Coltranian spirituality. Singaporean and French jazz virtuosi perform an evening of music and dance that evokes the spirit of joie de vivre.
