Singapore’s biggest watersports festival DBS Marina Regatta will return with a big splash this year from 1 to 4 June. Into its sixth edition, the event will continue to see top dragon boating teams from the region battle it out on the waters of Marina Bay, along with a plethora of fun-packed activities for the public. Here are some highlights you can expect:
BAYFEST ON WATER
- DRAGON BOATING
Co-organised with the Singapore Dragon Boat Association, this year’s international dragon boat competition will see some 90 teams and over 3,000 athletes vie for cash prizes totalling S$134,000 – the highest for the sport in Asia.
The first of its kind in Asia, DBS’ 18-metre-tall Swedish Match 40 sailboats let members of the public the chance to have a go at sailing.
BAYFEST ON LAND
- BATTLE BAY
If you are a fan of game show series Wipeout, you would like this. This year’s regatta will see Singapore’s largest inflatable water obstacle course. To be more precise, that’s over 11,000 square of challenging obstacles including balance blocks, monkey bars, wall scaling, and rope swings.
- BAY BEACH
Double in size from last year, the pop-up urban beach makes an appearance again this year. Popular Bali beach club Potato Head will bring in their signature Coconut Bar here, and of course their coconut cocktails and beers.
- BAY DOME
Standing at 7.5 metres tall, the Bay Dome will add colours and lights with an illustrated projection of the Marina Bay skyline, creating an immersive interactive art experience. Customise your own characters and watch your designs come to life on the projection!
- BAY EATS
No event in Singapore is complete without food. The regatta’s food village Bay Eats will feature food stalls from award-winning and new eateries in Singapore such as the “Neo-Sin” restaurant Labyrinth, French eatery Garçons, The BellJar, Leng Leng ice cream and more.
- PLAY DOME
During the day, the nine-metre-tall Play Dome will host fitness classes conducted by lululemon. When night falls, let your hair down at the DBSMR X Ultra Countdown Party, which will take place exclusively at the regatta from 7pm to 10pm on 2 and 3 June. At the pre-parties, look out for the Ultra Music Festival deejays, such as Dubvision, Crossnaders, Raiden, Jade Rasif, Moe and Myrne.
