Singapore’s dining scene has no shortage of Peranakan restaurants, but few have managed to capture the warmth and familiarity of a home kitchen quite like Bibik Violet. Following the success of its first café at Temasek Shophouse, the Violet Oon Group’s all-day Peranakan café, bakery and emporium has unveiled its second home at Great World, bringing its comforting fare, colourful handmade kueh and nostalgic bakes to the River Valley neighbourhood.
Located on Level 2 of Great World, the spacious 74-seater café is designed to feel exactly as its name suggests — like stepping into a welcoming Peranakan family home. Rather than creating a polished restaurant setting, the team has filled the space with thoughtful heritage touches including rattan chairs, fringed lampshades, vintage recipe books, batik accents, hanging plants and carefully curated collectibles that celebrate Singapore’s rich Peranakan culture.
The opening also carries special significance for Chef Violet Oon herself. “Great World holds very special memories for me and my family,” she shares. “My parents held their wedding dinner here… and my first job as a young journalist was at Times House along Kim Seng Road. To now return with Bibik Violet feels like a homecoming.”
That sense of nostalgia extends beyond the décor and into every dish on the menu.
Bibik Violet continues its concept as an all-day café, serving everything from breakfast through dinner. Early risers can begin the day with traditional favourites such as Kaya Toast, Hae Bee Hiam Toast and Mee Siam, accompanied by kopi and teh brewed in true Singapore kopitiam style.

Come lunchtime, diners can tuck into familiar one-dish meals including Nyonya Laksa, Prawn Mee, Nasi Lemak and Chicken Macaroni. Those dining in groups can share classic appetisers like Satay, Kueh Pie Tee and Tau Hu Goreng before moving on to heartier Peranakan mains such as Buah Keluak Soft Rib, Babi Pongteh, Ayam Goreng Berempah and Chap Chye served alongside fragrant rice.
Whether it’s a quick weekday lunch, afternoon tea or family dinner, the menu is built around comforting dishes that encourage diners to linger a little longer.

One of the first things visitors will notice upon entering the café is the vibrant kueh counter.
Made fresh daily in limited quantities, the display showcases Bibik Violet’s signature handmade Nyonya kueh alongside nostalgic cakes and freshly baked treats. The Great World outlet also introduces several new additions, including Black Sesame Ang Ku Kueh and Yam Ang Ku Kueh, joining the existing Mung Bean and Peanut varieties.
Another new highlight is the Kueh Talam, featuring creamy coconut on top of a rich purple sweet potato base that is as visually striking as it is comforting.
For larger celebrations, Bibik Violet has also launched colourful kueh platters available in various assortments, making them ideal for birthdays, office parties, baby showers and family gatherings.
Beyond traditional kueh, Bibik Violet continues to expand its bakery offerings with a selection of nostalgic cakes inspired by old-school neighbourhood bakeries.
New additions include the Marble Loaf Tea Cake, Pandan and Gula Melaka Marble Chiffon Cake, Banana Loaf Cake, buttery Pineapple Upside-Down Cake and Rum Balls that evoke childhood celebrations. These join existing customer favourites such as the Orange Sugee Cake, Pandan Chiffon Cake and Pulut Hitam Tart.
Guests can enjoy them in the café, purchase individual slices or whole cakes, or pick up curated gift boxes and platters to share with family and friends.

To celebrate the opening of its Great World outlet, Bibik Violet has also rolled out a trio of limited-edition durian desserts available exclusively until 31 August 2026.
Leading the seasonal line-up is the Durian Chendol, which crowns the familiar shaved ice dessert with generous servings of durian.
Those looking for something richer can opt for the Sago Gula Melaka with Durian, where silky sago pearls meet gula melaka before being topped with luscious Mao Shan Wang durian pengat.
Completing the trio is the Pulut Tai Tai with Durian Kaya, pairing fragrant blue pea glutinous rice with rich durian kaya and creamy durian pengat for an indulgent take on a beloved Peranakan classic.
If durian isn’t your thing, Bibik Violet has also introduced a permanent Great World exclusive — its classic Chendol, made with shaved ice, pandan jelly, coconut milk and gula melaka.
Opening Specials
To mark the opening, guests can enjoy kopi or teh for just $1 daily between 3pm and 5pm until 31 August 2026 at the Great World outlet.
Visitors who sign up for the complimentary Bibik Club loyalty programme will also receive a free kopi or teh, while enjoying member benefits including reward points, birthday treats and exclusive perks across both Bibik Violet outlets.
With its inviting atmosphere, heritage-inspired interiors and menu that spans everything from comforting Peranakan classics to handcrafted kueh and nostalgic bakery favourites, Bibik Violet’s second outlet feels less like another café opening and more like an extension of a beloved family dining room. For those seeking familiar flavours served with genuine warmth, the new Great World location offers yet another reason to rediscover the simple joy of coming home to good food.
